Citizens closed their windows and locked their doors in a rush as the mist rolled in, threatening to break through even the tiniest of gaps. Families huddled close to their fireplaces, eyes trained at their locked doors.
A gasp, quickly silenced by their parents’ hand as a shadow darted past their opaque window.
Silence stole the isolated city of Seoul. The skies turning over with dirty grays as bullets of rain plummeted from above. Yet between the desolate houses and empty streets, an eerie atmosphere proudly made itself known.
Heavy mist suffocated the air inches above the cobbled floor, faded streetlamps no longer visible. A clap of thunder sounded, breaking through the vowed quiet that held the city captive.
Then a scream.
A loud, terrified scream, followed by silence.
Parents hugged their children close, part of them thankful that the scream did not belong to either of them. Now, all that was left was to wait. Wait for the accursed mist to subside. Wait for him to finish.
The mist slowly parted and a figure of a girl could be seen, lying unmoving on the hard, cold pavement.
Her pallid complexion shone underneath the moonlight, her lips barely visible so drained of blood they were. Even her over-expressive eyes dimmed, no longer entertaining the glimmer of life that she was so known for.
A lithe creature folded himself beside her crumpled form, his piercing amber eyes following addictively as the last droplet of blood ran down from her neck. "Even the most beautiful rose has to wither and die."
