I've figured that finding a significant other has it's benefits, but the stipulations outweigh them. Love is a grand thing and I'm not trying to paint a black mark on it, though, I feel that finding love its self is one of the most painful part that usually takes more time to find than the relationship lasts. We have come to define our existence as painful and meaningless. Did we become this way because of the women? Or did we expect too much out of them? If we put them on a pedestal, when they failed to live up to expectations, we were bound to be sad and frustrated. Or is it self-loathing? Lack of success in love leads to the sadness of failure. I am the brooding type, which you may well be also, and I constantly focus on my flaws; the physical ones which cannot be changed. Maybe we're just greedy.

Nevertheless, I have also chosen a different path than love. Through hard work and sacrifice, I can increase my skillfulness of art and perhaps someday prove the value of my existence. And perhaps someday become a legend and a hero. Perhaps. Unlikely. But what other path is there for the men like us?

there is truth in the words you write that couldn't come out of anyone but my cousin. your classification of us being yin and yang is true. i am also the brooding type, focusing on the things i've done wrong for too long a time.
