So sad. . .

Just spoke with wackdaddy  's cousin. He got burned this week, from his knees down. He got first and second  degree burns when his boiler water hose exploded on him, both  legs & right foot. An ambulance  took him to Cornell Burn Center in Manhattan, where they said: "Oh, it's not that bad, COMPARED TO WHAT WE USUALLY SEE". However, we all know burns hurt, ( Read more... )

I'm really sorry to hear this, and I hope he'll recover ok. My thoughts are with you -- and him and all your family. It's all a bit scary, and I do know he's hurting ( ... )

Thanks for sharing that information about Claire. . . we are attracted to certain people for a reason. She and I have always found it easy to talk. (Thanks to you, for sharing.) I have to be extra careful while I'm at the stove too, because of my mastectomy, I have no feeling on my left breast and torso. I've burned the skin by leaning too close on a hot pan, but thankfully not done worse than that. Always makes me think of Robin Williams in Mrs. Doubtfire. :)

Burns are terrible. :(. I fell face first into a wood burning stove when I was 16 caught myself on my arm and palm but avoided burning my face. 2nd degree burns....I don't even carry a scar now, just a slight discoloration in the arm area...hardly noticeable...but I remember it hurt SO bad! For weeks after. I hope your family heals quickly and I hope your heal from the emotional trauma too...I'm sure that makes it all a little bit hard to deal with. Many hugs!

Growing up, every time I heard a fire engine. . . I would cry. This lasted for many years. . . well into adulthood. One day my father called me up and told me that he found a picture of my grandmother (the one who got burned) and when I went to his house he told me that he was going to make me a copy of it. You don't get away with this with my father, but I told him NO, I will make you a copy, I NEED the original. It helped me heal.
Thanks for commenting. I'm glad you don't have a scar, the scar is on your heart. :)

So sorry about your grandmother. :( Such a horrible way to go. I see why it left a lasting impression.

(My apologies if this ends up posting multiple times -- my internet is spotty today.)
