When I read The Travels of a T-Shirt in the Global Economy which follows cotton from the fields to garment production, I thought that it said that organic cotton was picked by child labor in Egypt. I googled organic cotton and child labor and happened upon this news story from 2012 about Victoria's secret having child labor in their organic cotton. Apparently, the government can seize your goods if they are made by slave labor due to Smoot-Hawley.

Here is another story about child labor in Egyptian cotton picking.

Anyway, one of the things I read said that some of the bodies that label things as organic are concerned with the labor practices and do not certify things as organic if child labor was involved.
