I'm curious... has anyone been following news of Amazon's "Rings of Power" series? Vanity Fair has an article out about it with enough spoilers to give any hard-core Tolkien fan a bad case of the heebie-jeebies, I think, but also a frisson of excitement that this could be very cool. Or at least very big.

I'm enjoying all the information and pictures, but find that I'm not as excited and eager about this series as I thought I'd be because it's not hobbit-centric. My heart still lies with the Shire. I probably won't be subscribing to Amazon Prime just to see this series, but it's fun knowing it's out there.

I'll see how it turns out - everything we're seeing now is publicity aimed at stirring fan conversation; I might hate the final product as much as the Hobbit movies, or I might love it as much as the LotR movies. Or somewhere in between.

What mrowe said.

I'm intrigued, excited, but keeping my expectations rather low, to be honest. I had such high expectations for The Hobbit movies, but they ended up a complete miss for me (except for perhaps the first half of the first one and the score), so I'm not letting myself get too worked up about this series one way or the other. I'm certainly not going to trash it based on teaser trailers, poster images and one article in Variety, like so many (at least on Twitter) are. I'm keeping an open mind, as much as I can.

One thing I know it won't do: knock LOTR off its rightful place at the top of my favorites list. :)

I'm keeping up with the gossip, but I'll probably never actually see the show since I don't, and won't, subscribe to Amazon Prime.
