Why Don't Politicians Use Powerpoint?

I keep thinking that this entire health care debate would disappear if someone (*cough* Obama *cough*) would just get on national TV and explain the proposed legislation through the use of a clear, simple, powerpoint presentation.

Like this:

But in my ~15 years of paying attention, I've never seen a politician give a powerpoint ( Read more... )

It's because they aren't allowed to use it in Congress, so they have no idea how! :oD

Have you seen their stupid board things they have to get printed out when they want a visual aid?

Wait, WHAT? Please tell me you're joking.

Also, network news specials aren't "Congress". Obama could still go on TV and narrate an animated presentation like the ones above.

Unless I missed something, that article doesn't mention anything about animated presentation software.

Dear God, please don't suggest that PowerPoint is the solution here. People who poorly communicate and rely on rhetoric can do so using any tool.

Thank you. Even if the health care debate were cut-and-dry, and I hope no one is naive enough to seriously believe that it is, I can't see powerpoint making a huge impact.

Still, it might be nice.

People are getting too hung up on the word "Powerpoint". The point I'm trying to make is that those two videos do a much better job of explaining the issues surrounding health care reform than ANY news article or broadcast I've seen so far. Rather than lengthy articles or vague speeches, why aren't any politicians trying to explain the proposal using direct language and simple visual aids?
