If anyone has an idea on how to make money biking, let me know.

Meanwhile, I need to come up with a few hundred dollars to get through the next couple months.

Nonetheless, I plan to take some bike trips over the next few months. I think I'll start out with a trip to La Plata (dainasplashes, would this be ok?), as a warm-up, and then try making it out to ( Read more... )

I remember reading about jobs in downtown areas (Seattle specifically) in which you ride your bike and deliver important papers to/from offices. You should look into being a bike messenger in DC or something...

I looked into it a few years ago, but it looked like it would take quite a bit of time to break into the business. Also, email and fax machines have been cutting down on demand for that stuff anyway.

Really? I remember finding the listing in the Seattle Times classified ads...but then, that was a couple years ago...

Okay. Go to Craigslist and look for jobs in DC. I'm sure there are plenty. When you mentioned last month that you needed a job to get you through Lent,I went to Craigslist and briefly looked to see if I was right. And I was. I found all sorts of jobs, even dog-walking jobs.

Wow. How many miles do you think you can do on a good day?

I've done sixty, but under less-than-ideal conditions. I figure I can average seventy or eighty.

By the way, the map says there are ferries from right around Red Bank to Battery Park. How much is the fare?

From my house in Highlands, it's $40 round trip. The schedule is pretty limited, though. From Red Bank itself, you take a train -- which is more like $20 round trip.

You're welcome to visit any time that I am around. There are certain times I won't be in town though, so check before you visit.

Alas; I couldn't afford to buy one, and I'm not in a good area for them anyway.

OT (yes I know that can mean both {"off topic" and "Old Testament" but in this case, both are appropriate). So I've decided that you really need to read Ratzinger's Spirit of the Liturgy. I know you're strapped for cash, so find a library that has it and read it asap. Seriously, it's written specifically for liturgy geeks like you and me, especially you. And you're always talking about how everything in the Old Testament points to Christ and is about Christ. Well, you'll find that opened up even more profoundly in this book. So read it. Now. Got it?
