I'm technically furloughed now, but I'm considered mission-essential for the rest of the week. So until next weekend, I still have to come to work, but I won't get paid for that time until the government starts up again

Contractors can't get furloughed and we are mission essential (why I don't know) so it's business as usual around my office. However the government is currently not processing security clearances during the shutdown which has huge implications for our hiring and for people waiting on an upgrade.

I hope this thing gets resolved soon. I'm a quasi-contractor so I'm okay for now, but I'll sleep a lot easier knowing that I won't suddenly stop getting paid...
