Ahhhh this is really precious. I wish I had more time to comment on it before I have to run off to work, but I love love love Gene noticing how Sam's jacket is done up wrong and how that kind of throws him for a loop. Gene pushing, the way he does, until Sam relents. Gene's going to take care of him because that's what he's supposed to do. Gene threatening to partner Sam with Ray and Sam's response XD priceless~

You've got some great lines in this, they really help set the mood, the anger, Gene's confusion and hesitation, but this one is probably my favourite:

Gene searched Sam's eyes for the truth, or the evidence of another lie, and what he saw there stunned him. Inhaling sharply, he understood. Sam had made a choice. It was Gene's job to protect Sam.

But Sam had saved him. ♥

Gah I'm so sorry for how late I am with commenting - life's been turbulent and fandom hasn't exactly been on the forefront of my mind...!

Anyway - Debl, thank you so much for this sweet little fic (because yes, they're sweet even when they're fighting hehehe). ♥ The energy between the two, and for some reason it's especially the fact that Gene notices that Sam buttoned his jacket up wrong that really gets me and warms my heart. It shows just how much Gene cares, how much attention he pays to Sam, and it's beautiful. Plus him insisting to go stay at Sam's with him, HNNNNNNNNNNG BOYS <333333333333333333333 Thank you, this was really heartwarming. :') ♥

I'm sorry this wasn't posted earlier - work, holidays and writer's block. I knew what I wanted to do but it wasn't happening for me; at least, not for a while.

I thought that the buttoned-up-wrong jacket would show just how much Sam wasn't himself, and I really liked how it threw Gene even though he still managed to tear a strip off Sam. I love it when they fight.
