You know what's sad?

If every economically viable human being in the world had 10 bucks to spare, we could send BILLIONS of dollars in aid to those who were without food, medicine, and proper shelter. Ten bucks a year, per person.

We should institute a fee for not having to live in a slum and starve to death.

We do. They're called taxes.

I'd add ten bucks to my tax payment every year if I knew, absolutely, that it was going to foreign aid.

I'm not a real politically motivated person. I'm a registered independant, don't give two shits who wins the local senatorial campaign, and cringe every time my roommate mentions a Fox News anchor as a political force in the United States. (Not because I care, but because he gets into an argument with his girlfriend every time. Screaming battle.)

I just feel like we don't do enough. America gives less than one percent of its budget to foreign aid. You know what kind of good we could do if we upped it to a measely two percent?

I dunno, I don't feel like this is a thing I relate to taxes. I get into a Social Security discussion, I think about taxes. I skip McDonald's for a day and make my own dinner, I can feed a child for a month.
