Did you call the pest control guys back and mention that you have pets?
And from the site: "Application sites: (snip list) pet sleeping and bedding areas" WTF? You'd think they'd have a warning if it's so incredibly toxic to cats. I wonder how many people have inadvertently poisoned their cats with this stuff?
What that Wikipedia article doesn't tell you is that many tick and flea products (for cats!) include permethrin, one of its variants, or any number of incredibly toxic chemicals that sicken, injure, or kill dogs, cats, and pretty much anything else it comes in contact with.
Hartz is probably the most well known grand scale offender, but Miko became very ill after an application of a Sergeants product that claimed it was safe enough to use on kittens, so obviously no weight issue on our little fattie. It was probably due to the active ingredient being what? Permethrin. There are many other brands along with those named that continue to package and sell products only by the virtue of some incredibly loose EPA standards that pretty much sanction pet euthanasia.
Yeah, I constantly have to warn people away from Hartz products. Someone I ran into at Wal-Mart one day was about to buy the Hartz drops for his cat because "we get Advantage for the dog, but we can't afford it for the cat so we're getting him this." I wanted to tell him to re-home his cat because he obviously didn't understand pet care. SO many people think Hartz is such a great brand, and it's AWFUL.
If someone knowingly and willfully took the risk, sure, but I think it is natural for people to assume that if something is on a shelf in a store and it has been through the proper channels to be there, then that product is safe to use for whatever purpose it is intended for. And a brand with name recognition? Even more so.
It's usually only when their little furry loved one is at the vet or being buried that they learn that those 'channels' are broken and a host of things that could easily kill our furry loved ones are being sold as pet care products.

Ahem. Sorry. Crazy cat lady out.

You're fine to be worried --
If it helps, it's primarily been a problem when it's been given to cats.
