Thanks! ^_^
Looking at its trial; I am amused.

As an unrelated tangent, I also ran across a Polish site that's licensed to sell (some) older PC games, with patches or emulators so that they'll run on new machines (oddly, I found it while reading about EA/Bioware). Gog.com - the name made me laugh! ^_^

So how do tell if those planets formed after the red giant phase?

Couldn't help but think of old cthonic horror motifs of old alien civs on destroyed and supposedly dead worlds.

The thought is that they formed normally (i.e., early in the system's life).
And, yah, they do indeed meet the "dead planet" criterion. ;)

I read an article that did not rule out formation from ejected material. Also mentioned that the planets mat have played a part in pulling material from the star if they were preexisting.

But it not the first dead star to have planets.
