Tyler made a bird-feeder at school on Thursday, which consisted of an apple rolled in peanut butter and then dipped in birdseed. We hung the apple in the tree of our front yard, and this morning I heard a lot of squawking and figured some local swallows had gotten in a bird-fight over the apple. At about the same time, Steven left to go to the ( Read more... )

And if you had been Courtnie, we would say, "Okay, time to recharge. Now look at the wall. There you go!"

I should have been clearer. :)

Marybeth said that there is a reserve for Macaws somewhere around here and that not too long ago someone snuck into their house and released six of them. If you called the police they might be able to give you more information, and if you give them your information it might lead to the capture of the bird.

Interesting...

The bird's foor was tagged, so he has to belong to somewhere. He flew around really well just like any normal bird, so I'm assuming that he either belonged to someone who didn't keep up with clipping his wings, or he's been in the wild for awhile. We called animal control and they came out and captured him without much problem. They said if the owner doesn't claim him then they will try and adopt him out, and if that fails, then the selter will just adopt him. Whatever the case, it was weird.

And by foor, I meant foot.

Jessica saw a peacock at the dog shelter last month. I wanted to go adopt it, but it turned out they were required to get a peacock specialist to come look at it and ensure it didn't have any kind of diseases.

Once I saw a peacock get hit by a car on the highway. It was even sadder than you'd think.

But those macaws are EXPENSIVE birds. You should have sold it on eBay.

I remember you wrote something in your LJ about said peacock and it made me extremely sad. Anything that involves the death of an animal makes me near tearful, even thought I'm not really an animal lover.

Yeah, they go for about $2500 at the local pet store.
