So what the hell happened to MartiP?

Um, she's in the middle of a kitchen remodel. Which her contractor SWEARS will be finished before November 12th. Which is good, because my two sisters fly in on the 21st from SC to spend Thanksgiving with me!

So far they've knocked down the high bar that sort of closed off the kitchen, re-routing some plumbing and wiring:

Yep, the granite has mica flecks, and gorgeous veins of quartz, and these coppery shimmery "snakeskin" patches under the surface in the right light. The 10-foot ceiling is nice, but we have no serious cold here, either.

The cooktop window made about as much sense as a wine rack over the fridge. Could there BE a hotter, worse place to keep wine???? That's converted to a deep cabinet for stuff we seldom use, like the fondue pot or panini maker (Yeah, I have a hubby who loves useless appliances.) Stuff we use often (like, um...the WINE!) gets a more handy location.

Was wondering just the other day how thing were with you. Great to hear from you! You have my complete sympathies with the remodelling, though, having gone through this 3 times in my life I don't think I could ever do it again! Looks like it will be well worth it thoigh!

I don't see how people live in a house through a months-or-year long whole house remodel. I'd go batshit. A few weeks of the kitchen is bad enough!
