Almost sister-time! Oh, and am I crazy?

So my house is almost sorta-kinds back in order after the remodel, and Meg and Mary arrive Saturday to spend Thanksgiving week with me. I can't wait. I miss my sisters so much. I am enjoying the hell out of life in TX, but being so far from them is the one drawback ( Read more... )

Everyone I know who has adopted a brood mama thinks they are the greatest dogs ever. Maybe all those hormones from bearing all those litters affects their personality, because the ones I've met at adoption events have such a sweet spirit about them. They just seem such wise kind old souls.

You and Lou will each wait for the other to admit that they've caved, and whoever doesn't admit it first will have already decided to keep her anyway! *g*

LOL! That sounds about right, and that's fine if so. But we'll see - you never know. The foster may not be a good fit with Willy and Jester, longterm. Either way I win: I either get another dog I love to bits, or I get the pleasure of fostering until she gets the right home, even if we're not it.

In other news, I will be getting a THIRD dog shortly after the sisters leave. Not permanently - she'll be a foster. My greyhound adoption group is getting a big influx of dogs needing homes, as a breeding farm nearby is closing. Lots of females, mostly brood matrons. They are in dire need of foster homes, so I've agreed to take one of the girls. Life just settled down, and now I do this - am I nuts?

No, not nuts at all, lol. I have fostered a couple, but they kind of move in and never move out. My girl, BeBe, was pretty shy, so I thought it would traumatize her to move on, and Trader is just a big old loveable doofus who acts nuts at Meet and Greets. He trys to get to everybody at once for pets, so we figured no one else would take him. He has the sweetest personality ever.

I don't have another because there is no way we could get one more in the motorhome we have had since we had one 19 lb poodle.

I admire you so much for fostering. I would do it again if they were desperate.

Enjoy your time with your sisters - as if my telling you will make it so! Looking forward to hearing about the giggles, laughs and late nights.
