Character Name: Nikola Tesla
Character Journal:
martyrtoscienceCanon: Sanctuary
Canon Point: Season 4, end of episode 5, after rescuing Henry
Canon Building: None.
History:
http://sanctuary.wikia.com/wiki/Nikola_Tesla Personality: To put it quite simply, Nikola is an egotistical genius prone to mood swings. As an original member of The Five, his 'revelation' as a descendant of the ancient Vampires (he would never view it as a change) only served to cement his belief that he was the culmination of perfection.
He generally dislikes people and will do his best to avoid asking for help or even interacting with anyone, unless he is gloating or in trouble. Or when he just wants attention. When he does find himself in trouble he cannot fix himself (which is far more often than he would ever admit) he usually reaches out to Helen Magnus in a way that appeases his need for flash and attention.
Dr. Magnus is his closest friend. She is, most likely, the only person he genuinely cares for and one of the few people on the planet who can tolerate him as well. The rest of The Five (Dr. Watson, John Druitt and Nigel Griffin) seemed to tolerate and to some extent respect him, and he mostly returned that respect. After Helen, he is the most tolerant of Henry Foss. Henry is probably closest thing Tesla has to an equal. He can keep up with the vampiric genius, sometimes, and Tesla has reluctantly congratulated him on his inventions and his attitude, and even gone as far as teaching him things.
Even when he likes someone he can be caustic and sarcastic. He has no qualms about using others to accomplish his own plans, which are kept to himself. Nikola has the utmost trust in himself and his abilities - vampiric, electromagnetic, and mental. Why would he need anyone else? Especially when nearly everyone (vampire, human, abnormal and even animal) cannot be depended on and cannot keep up with his genius and will only betray or leave him in the end.
Because of his intelligence and his skills, Tesla usually ends up avoiding making any blueprints for his inventions. This is probably a combination of trying to protect his work after so many times of having it stolen and simply not wanting to take the time to explain his work to anyone else. He is very possessive of his accomplishments.

Powers/Abilities: Tesla possesses a photographic memory and massive intellect. He can manipulate electricity and magnetic fields, but at high enough voltages he does become somewhat affected and slowed by electricity. His vampiric abilities mean he has enhanced strength and speed, as well as keener reflexes and senses. He is immortal and hard to damage, with an accelerated healing rate. Nikola can control his transformation into a vampire - when fully transformed he has pure black eyes, sharpened teeth and sharp black claws with a changed voice, at other stages he has various combinations of these features.

[The video feed clicks on. The device is obviously being explored, as the picture is shaky for quite some time. The person on the other end of the feed flashes in and out of view several times before it finally focuses on a very disgusted looking man with brown hair and gray eyes.]
I don't appreciate being pulled away from what's left of a bottle of '95 Château Margaux. I know I'm magnificently useful and unique but it's polite to at least ask. The government can, why can't this place?
And this new jewelry chafes. I don't like it.

Nikola glanced over his shoulder with a paranoid huff. Perhaps he should have done this at one of the parks, somewhere far away from anywhere he may be interrupted. The roof, he knew, was one of Helen's favorite places to retreat, and the other employees of the Sanctuary probably came up often as well. He could only hope they would not be joining him at this time of the morning.
He was far more fond of retreating to the wine cellar, personally. It was always quiet and it meant he was forever surrounded by something he dearly loved. The library held the same attraction, though often there were others in the room. He often wondered what happened to the convention that libraries were supposed to be for quiet, because even if young love was fascinating to observe and even if watching others struggle with comprehension could be enjoyable, it was annoying to be in the middle of a favorite poem or historical retelling and overhear someone giggle. (Or at least someone giggling who wasn't himself, as he never did anything that annoyed himself and at times things were hilarious.)
"...I do hope she's here." He knew pigeons were diurnal, knew that like an innate fact of life by now, but perhaps the birds on this planet were different. That was an incredibly depressing thought, and Nikola sighed as he shimmied across a ledge to reach the overhang where he hoped to find her.
He had seen her the previous evening just before sunset. She had been beautiful, her white wings spread in flight against a bank of rose clouds. It had been love at first sight.
He had to see her again. He would see her again. He had little else to do but find her and take care of her.
