For all the newly-initiated House/Hugh Laurie fans - So, you probably know about the inordinately high (and unhealthy) amount of time I spend on Wikipedia, LJ and IMDB so I can later spout off random facts at you at odd moments. Here's something that you might actually care about:

It is my opinion that the Arthur Dent of the movie was very good, as Arthur did strike me as a bit of a ditz. But Zaphod was RUBBISH! Jim Carey could have been good. Hugh could have been a good Arthur too, but then again, I didn't totally hate the movie!
That's just my insignificant opinion.

I didn't hate the actor who played Dent, but I have an irrational love of all things Laurie. I think it was more that the story of the movie itself annoyed me. But if we'd had Adams consulting on the script, with Laurie and Carrey in the cast, the movie would've been really radically different.
