Behold the angst!

Some graduated seniors feel bitter about their choice of college and wax eloquent about how they had greater ambitions before DCE (or NSIT, for that matter) crushed them into the powdered glass that is beneath the feet of the Real World today ( Read more... )

Aaagh. Use the Enter key, it won't kill you. My head hurts and that seeming paragraph of doom isn't helping. :P

I don't get it...what part does DCE/NSIT play in this transformation? I should suppose the getting crushed into powdered glass came with a combination of general idealism, greenhornedness and a warm, mushy feeling that the entire world will treat us like we've been treated for our entire lives till that point of time. It's just how the 'Real World' gets along. I suppose dealing with all the red-tapism and general madness in a government college would actually PREPARE them for the outside crap, rather than having them bitch about the 'Real World'.

It's not the red-tapism that they're talking about. They're talking about the colleges doing nothing whatsoever to help them further their ambitions. They're talking about the actual standards of the college, which is pretty low, considering... The colleges have below par facilities and instead of even encouraging their students to think independently and somehow helping to ( ... )

Agreed that DCE/NSIT don't try to help the students, then tell me, which freakin college in this country does? IITs may fare a bit better, but on the international scene, they're just as inefficient and insignificant, all these so called A grade colleges are nothing more than just conveyor belts to deliver jaded and broken employees to the companies who know that these kids will do what they are told and when they're told.

Agreed. The IITs do fare only slightly better. They encourage their students, they have a better environment which doesn't completely stifle you (but with its own drawbacks). Then we have BITS, possibly, and a couple of others, maybe. Then we have a huge drop in standards before we get to any other engineering colleges in India.

I'm just mocking those people who think that DCE and NSIT are world-renowned and will get them whatever they want with no extra effort on their part.

Yes, my ambitions are way too high. TCS and Infosys may very well look the other way when it comes to hiring me, much less the other better ( ... )
