I am neutral to Gwyneth. Don't love her, don't loathe her. There has been just *too* much of her lately, and it's tiresome :) Yeah, the film is indeed really weak. Gwynnie's storyline was as pathetic as empty. Couldn't care less. Her hubby's terrible hair piece got more of my attention than their actual (poorly written) lines. Can't say I adored the "love" story between the blond dude and the beauty queen either, but it really, truly shined in comparison.

I can't say I fell for it. Not even stumbled. More like tolerated it. I guess even "Natalie Portman" needs cash :D The period mix was incredibly sweet and unexpectedly funny.
Yeah, I still can't buy the Portman/Kutcher duo. It just feels wrong. But I'm totally letting real life dictate to me. And I do realize it's ridiculous, but I can't seem to help it. I agree that it was hot, but I guess it *had* to be to kinda convey the sex without emotional commitment thing.

I'm glad you liked Puccini For Beginners.

As for No Strings Attached, I just watched it two days ago and kinda hated it. There wasn't really any plot, their only obstacle was Natalie Portman's commitment phobia. The whole theme of "just being fuckbuddies" felt really, really dated, especially since the movie almost immediately seemed to decide that it couldn't work out without them falling in love with each other. After twenty minutes nothing really happened until the boring finale, the movie just died and lay there for over an hour. Worst sin for me: I hated Natalie Portman's character and I didn't want her to end up with Ashton Kutcher, especially since his co-worker was there whom I wanted to succeed to finally get him. The stereotypical gay characters and the never-in-a-million-years stupid scene of a TV writer inviting all his friends to a taping of his first episode were just the stale icing on this dull cake. At least the supporting cast was good.

I really did. Thanks for that rec, and for Adventureland as well.

I didn't hate it. I didn't like it much, but I didn't hate it. Well, there was a plot... just not a really good/original one. Pretty much at several times during the film I got this déjà vu feeling, and then I realized that it was because Kutcher played a really similar, almost identical character in A Lot Like Love (I think that is what it was called; I don't feel like googling to check it). But yeah, another typical, lacking content rom-com. Like I said above, I guess even Portman needs cash :)
