WIP Update/Thoughts on Writing
YAY! Another scene finished. I'm currently at 2657 words! I've also got some betas - Roz (kermitfries00) as always will be doing the basics while Cally (eldestmuse) will be handling character corrections. Which is awesome because I'm having trouble keeping Eric in character - or even knowing if he is in character. Anyway, sample below!
Tara ignores the pain until she is too weak to stand up straight. Her eyes drop closed. She is dimly aware of a voice calling out her name. She can feel the soft touch of familiar fingers. She wants to call back, to reach out to this person but moving her vocal chords takes too much energy. The voice disappears eventually, and Tara is left alone in a blanket of darkness.
I've discovered a new method of productive writing via this fic. Recently I've put together a binder where I can write my first drafts for fanfic. I write original fic as well, but atm I'm experimenting with some new methods I learned at a recent writers convention. Usually, when I write fanfiction of any kind, my brain makes me stop every ten words to find that perfect language but the only way to write productively is to get the basic actions and reactions down first, and prettify it later. I've found that if I find a themesong for the story, blast it almost loud enough that I can't think, I'm able to get the gist of the scene down. Then, when I type it up, I clarify the actions, extend scenes and dialogues and work the language so that it fits my vision of "good writing".
