Mary's Hair

Sorry if this question has been asked before......but is Mary a natural redhead? Her hair has been SO many shades of red, I just can't tell if its her natural colour if she's just great with the dye! I did a quick search online but was not able to find an answer!

From what we've seen of older pictures I would guess her natural color is a shade of dark brown....
And there's a good possibility that her color without the red would now be grey :-)

Haha, yes about the grey!! I was guessing dark brown, too-all the younger photos of her when it was long and she was at The Long Wharf her hair is very brown. Her hair has been some shades of red where it looks very natural (like right now) and other times its definitely been that dyed auburn/purple colour!

Well, in her high school cheerleading picture she has very dark hair, but it's also black and white so if there was any red in it is a mystery.

She is Scottish (or at least I assume so - Mary McDonnell is a pretty Scottich name), and has the pale green eyes commonly associated with auburn hair. I think it's quite likely that her hair had some natural red in it, due to her ancestry.

We'd have to ask her to know for certain though, I'd imagine :-P

Mary is actually of Irish descent :-)

You're welcome :-) Ehm, I don't know about a written source, but Mary has said it during various panels. She talks about her big Irish-Catholic family.

And someone just posted this on her Facebook page:

"I was in the same acting class with you at Fredonia State. Since I don't follow closely who's who in the biz, I had not made the connection until I fairly recently researched the history of SUNY at Fredonia! But I remember the auburn haired beauty with the prominent cheeks! The instructor was Guastaferro."

But are they telling the truth? Not sure. :-P

From the things that I have seen of her, I'd say her natural colour is a dark brown. But she's dyed her hair so many times, so who knows for sure right? :-P

Haha, yes! I was just wondering because it has been soooo many different shades, and the quality of her hair shows that it is most definitely dyed and has been many times!

I find it interesting, too, how straight Sharon's hair usually is. They don't ever really use Mary's natural waves.
