Take it to school and insist that it should be your lab partner.

Tell people it is your best friend.

Send it in as your replacement at work then place all the blame on it when something goes wrong.

Talk with significant others in your life - your best friend, your own parents. For many people, the temptation to close up emotionally is great at this point, but it can be so beneficial to have reliable friends and relatives who can help carry the emotional burden.

wrap it and give it to your best friend/worst enemy for christmas.#

have it fight other cardboard cutouts. video the fights. youtube it. (make sure Pete loses to, like, a muppet or something)

stand it in front of a window when you leave the house in order to deter burglers.

get the "real" Pete to sign it. introduce the cut-out to him as your "shy, retiring best friend who is in love with you". Laugh when "real" Pete looks confused.

take it for a romantic night out on the town.
