How did it become more than a week since I last posted? Well, for one thing the sun did indeed go away and so I've had less energy. And the weather app on my iPhone says rainy or cloudy for the foreseeable future. Sigh

To be fair, two of the people he had the most issues with, or were taking most issue with him and some of his fellow travelers are only in our 40s... albeit in Kevin's case, late 40s. Which hardly makes us ancient.
I take more exception as being told that I don't get 'wider fandom' when it's clear that by 'wider fandom' the author means the bits he interacts with.
Yes well, he did say Baby Boomer die off quite explicitly. And I am definitely a Boomer. You don't have to be a member though to take exception though.
I guess we all feel our bits of fandom are the important ones. I recently got severely schooled on the SMOF's list when I said I didn't find a particular con fannish. Interesting. Illogical too, and possibly attempt at evading responsibility for oneself. I didn't ask to be born in 1952 anymore than anyone else asked to be born in 1985 or whenever. I get a distinct feeling of entitlement from some of what I've heard. MKK
Baby Boomer seems to be shorthand these days not only for older but for "Conservative", be it in reading tastes or politics. I don't approve. Older generations are more likely to be more conservative (Both in that they grew up in a different world and that people tend to get more conservative/set in their habits as they age) but not to the exclusion of open mindedness, allies, or worthy human beings.
My mom is a baby boomer. My dad. My aunts and uncles. Much of my church. A lot of other people I like and care about. My in laws are actually *older* than the baby boom. These are not people I appreciate being told should die off to make room.
For one thing, they raised we who crop up in the newer fandoms.
