I feel happy knowing that I'm not the only one who sees watermarks as pretty much a waste. It's sad, there's a few pieces of art that I like from a couple of artists but I would so enjoy it so much more if their massive logo wasn't covering up the piece.
Oh yeah, I know of a lot of instances of that happening... however (at least from my own observation) it's usually done with fanart.
I'm talking about giant watermarks slathered all over very furry art, like badges, character sheets, artwork that isn't likely going to be bootlegged onto buttons or shirts.
There IS a point in putting your URL somewhere in the picture, for when it goes memetic and gets lazily copied to 10,000 websites. I bet Ursula kicks herself over that.
