Miguel and I never had a honeymoon, although we'll be married 5 years this July!   We kinda' got married in a ramshackle way, eloping because I didn't want my parents to have to pay for anything.  I've always kinda' felt bad that we couldn't really afford to go on a honeymoon or any vacation just the two of us at all, for that matter.  Any time we ( Read more... )

Yeah, it seems like they have some sort of special running every few months. We are planning on going in the off season, so it's super cheap! :D

Congratulations! I'm glad to hear you'll be getting the chance to do this, and I surely understand what you mean by wanting to do the resort experience up right. One of my favorite things to do when I'm at WDW is to visit the resort hotels and just soak up the atmosphere and see all the little details. I wish more hotels out there took the time to make their interiors as satisfying to occupy as Disney does. Do you know which place you'll be staying at yet? My favorite resorts to explore are the Wilderness Lodge, Polynesian Resort, and the Contemporary Resort.

Yeah, I intend on taking the bus around to all the resorts to check them out! I'd LOVE if we could do the Polynesian, but we probably have to stick with the moderate resorts. I let him pick, and he likes Coronado Springs.

My mother and step-father stayed at Coronado Springs earlier this past March when we all visited and I think it's a great choice. It's a spread-out rather than vertical resort so you might potentially have a lot of walking to do depending on how far your room is from the main entrance, but it's nothing terrible and with all the walking you'll be doing on the park grounds you'll probably be in good shape anyhow. ;) Good news is that your timeframe avoids the oppressively hot summer temperatures, but the bad news is you might not be able to enjoy the awesome swimming pool they have.

Take it from me: you can enjoy most of what is offered at the Polynesian just by entering the resort and walking through it. The decor, the restaurants, the view, the monorail, the walk along the beach. Awesome. You might even consider making a stop there for dinner via the monorail after you're finished for the day at the Magic Kingdom. If the day is pleasant try making the walk to this location: (look for the green arrow)You can just sit there ( ... )

It's funny cause Coronado is the only resort I have actually stayed at, but Miguel likes that one the best!

Although I just did the number crunching and found I can afford Animal Kingdom Lodge - do you think that would be a better choice?

And I will make it a point to walk around the Polynesian. It looks so beautiful!

We actually hit Disney World as part of our honeymoon extravaganza 3 years ago. My wife feels it is very important to keep checking back at the website while logged in, as they seem to do a little/some/a lot of data mining and will start sending you out offers more tailored to what you were looking at.

Also... never fail to mention at the front desk that it's your honeymoon. Trust me!

Ha ha, I don't know if it could really be called a honeymoon, since we've been married for 5 years already, but I'll give it a go!

Well, it may be belated, but I think it still counts! Besides, you're totally more in love now than even when you were married.

And because I like to confuse myself, we actually honeymooned in California, but we did go to Disney World last year. We ended up staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. There are definitely resorts that are far more convenient for walking/mono-railing, but I did like being away from the central parks a bit.

Would you happen to know how much nicer Animal Kingdom lodge is overall compared to some of moderate level resorts? I found out I can afford Animal Kingdom and we were originally thinking of Coronado Springs. It's a $500 price difference, so I was wondering if it was worth the extra money...
