Take it from me: you can enjoy most of what is offered at the Polynesian just by entering the resort and walking through it. The decor, the restaurants, the view, the monorail, the walk along the beach. Awesome. You might even consider making a stop there for dinner via the monorail after you're finished for the day at the Magic Kingdom. Although I just did the number crunching and found I can afford Animal Kingdom Lodge - do you think that would be a better choice?
And I will make it a point to walk around the Polynesian. It looks so beautiful!

And because I like to confuse myself, we actually honeymooned in California, but we did go to Disney World last year. We ended up staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. There are definitely resorts that are far more convenient for walking/mono-railing, but I did like being away from the central parks a bit.
