Is my car jinxed?

My car and I have been in another accident (no one hurt; car driveable) that was in no way ouro fault. And it took place only 50 feet from the site of the accident I had on February 6 this year. [That time, in the shopping center parking area a woman pulled out from a stop sign into the side of my car ( Read more... )

Is it possible that the traffic signals are obscurred? Or the sun shines at an angle? I am sure it isn't your fault, but could the surroundings be wrong?

Odd, I was thinking about you and cars yesterday. Very glad to know you are ok.

I know that I had a green turn arrow. There was a car across the intersection from me that was also turning left, and since we were both making our turns at that point, I have no doubt that we both had green lights and the crossroad had a red light in both directions.

The woman who hit me said several times, "I just didn't see the light." She also mentioned a couple of times that she and her child were on the way home from a doctor's appointment where it had been determined the little girl had a UTI and she had a prescription she was supposed to stop to get filled. She was distracted.

I'm not saying I've never been distracted and run through a red light that hadn't registered on my attention; I've just always been very fortunate that there was never another car in the intersection when that happened.

My previous car was hit five times, and in all cases the car was legally stopped. Twice I was waiting at a red light, not moving, and the other three times the car was legally parked and the engine off. So yes, weirdness and coincidence happens. I'm obviously safer when driving on the freeway. Sigh.

Twice in four months, andn less than fifty feet between the locations of the two accidents.

Otoh, I know I make an average of at least four or five trips a week to stores in that shopping center and begin my trip home by turning left at that intersection with the traffic light. [Making a left turn out of the shopping center is much safer at the light than at any of the other exits from the shopping center where there are no traffic lights.]

The last two times I was hit was on the same street, two stoplights apart, less than a mile from my house. It was very weird.
