Perseverance (1/7)

BBC Sherlock

Rating 15 (swearing, implicit slash)

Summary: Greg Lestrade is a very patient man. Just as well, when it's so hard to get together with Mycroft Holmes.

This was inspired by Second Skin's Persuasion, and started off as a prequel and remix of that. It has ended up much, much longer...

Note: The chronology of Series 2 is notoriously dodgy. ( Read more... )

I am very excited about this story. It's Mystrade with hurt/comfort so it has to be good.

There's so much rich detail and character development here, and on a hot sticky day with much to do, I was still able to enter your world and be spell bound.

Favorite bits--Greg's granny and the bitter sweetness of his early broken relationships.

Greg at the cafe with a black coffee when the posh menu included a cheese sandwich descr. by a paragraph.

Mention of the States and Boston, Mass. Have friends who moved there to get married.

This Mycroft is himself but with a little bit of gentleness and vulnerability for Greg only. I like it.

My flist has been painfully slow. Looking foward to the rest.

Glad you're enjoying it. I'm afraid this is a fic in which almost nothing happens for long stretches of time, so it is all about getting the details right, a plausible answer to the question of how Greg and Mycroft get from A to B when everything is stacked against them. As you will see...
