BBC Sherlock

Rating 15 (explicit slash, swearing)

Summary: If only Sherlock had co-operated, talked to Greg, things might have been different.

Many thanks to The Small Hobbit for betaing.

Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6.

Sherlock had obviously decided to finish 2010 as he'd started it, by being a complete tosser. )

Ouch, poor Greg. I'm must admit I don't quite see from this why Greg feels Sherlock mattered too much. The way you've laid it out, Sherlock really hasn't done much for Greg other than make his life difficult. As the author, what is it you have in mind behind that? Greg's attraction to Sherlock, or the number of cases that Sherlock presumably did help him solve, or something else?

I think Greg's response is probably more an emotional one than a rational one in the aftermath of Sherlock's death. Right at the start of Part 1 he's thinking it would have been better if they'd never met, but when he looks back over their relationship (which is essentially what Parts 1-7 are doing), there was never a good time to walk away. Whether it was caring about Sherlock, needing him for the cases or a mixture of both, there was always something keeping Greg coming back to him. Even when Greg did give up on Sherlock, at the end of Part 1, Mycroft brought them back together again ( ... )
