This is great - especially as I was expecting the arrival of the gas man ;)

Now the principle of Sherlock/F&S crossover has been established (there are even tags on AO3), we obviously all need to take this further:

"I draw your attention to the curious incident of the gasman on Monday morning."

"But the gasman did not come on Monday morning, Holmes."

"That was the curious incident."

I am now listening to Bedstead Men with a huge grin on my face - thank you so much for this splendid crossover!

Good to see you in action again! I was thinking fondly of an earlier story only today (the one where Donovan and Anderson join John to clear Sherlock's name).

I suppose, if this were remade for the 21st century, the league would have run out of brass bedsteads and be forced to turn to supermarket trolleys? But I cannot imagine how you would update Miss Lucas...

It's good to be back, if only briefly. After a long time having to write RL stuff, I'm now trying to get at least one or two more substantial things done before Series 3. There's one Sally story I'm working on at the moment, but it's not at the top of the queue, so I'm not sure if/when I'll get it.

You're right about shopping trolleys being a better bet. I suspect even back in the nineteen-sixties when the song was written, as fast as the bedsteads were being put in ponds, would-be trendy people were retrieving them for Victorian style bedrooms. As for Miss Lucas, I find it not at all surprising that Dr Watson is clearly falling for her...

I loved this - more Flanders and Swann is always an excellent thing, and it's great to see their flight of fancy being given a more concrete reality. :-)

It was fun to write, but quite hard to wrap up neatly. But maybe we all need to get more Flanders and Swann into assorted fandoms.
