apparently a weekend is not enough

Feb 25, 2008 10:03

for a few weeks I have been living from one weekend to the other, dreaming of these two days in a week when I can forget about alarm clocks and stress and what not. when I can SLEEP for as long as I need.

and it works... to some degree.

the week is usually spent on too much coffee and too little rest... in other words - I'm constantly running on ( Read more... )

oh, do I know what you mean. The "bot taking work home" has been great these past couple of weeks (although it also means staying till 9 at the office O_o) but yes, getting the whole weekend to relax and not think about work (and not signing on to work email) has been the only thing that can help me keep going through the week. But what sucks is that you look at the calendar, and OMG! February is almost over! where did it go? but yea, a vacation would be amazing right now

I see you have it worse than me, hon *huggles*. weekends are the only way to keep our sanity, hm? oh, and some escapism in the form of sexy tv men doesn't hurt either ;).

time seems to pass so quickly... it just flies by... *sighs*

vacation would be wonderful. I really must try to work everything out so I could take a few days off. how about you - can you take some time off? it seems like you could definitely use it *hugs*

and I get stressed because I know I need to rest and the thought alone chases away the sleep

I know exactly what you mean. I've been suffering from insomnia since a lot of years ago. Most of the days I go to sleep at 2, and then I have to wake up at 7, so when I get into bed I keep repeating to myself that I need to fall asleep quickly or I won't get enough hours of sleep that night. Of course, as soon as I begin to think like that, I can't fall alseep. I keep watching at the alarm clock and realizing of how the minutes go by, and my body is ready to sleep, but not my mind.

I hope you sleeping patterns get better sweetie! *tight hug*

oh yeah, it seems that we understand each other completely here *squishes*.

I hope both our sleeping patterns will get a bit more normal ♥

:(

Did you ever try valerian or St. John's wort? I know that valerian helped M a lot, for example when he went back to school and was so stressed all the time. He took it some time before he wanted to go to bed and he then got tired and his brain was easier to "shut up" ;) It's purely natural, so no harm done. St. John's wort is stronger, but it can also put you in a "I don't care" mood all the time (doesn't happen to everyone though). Maybe you should try it... I can also look up some homeopathic stuff if you want :)

But I'll cross my fingers that you'll find the time to take some days off *hugs*

I got valerian drops when I complained about my insomnia to the doctor back in my teenage years... they tasted so horrible that I gagged and threw up, so I couldn't take them :(. it sucks because the taste of some stuff really puts me off - for example I can't drink melissa, because I hate its taste and the fact that I would have to drink it, would stress me on its own, heh... it's not SO bad with St. John's wort, but I didn't even know it works for problems with sleeping - I only ever used it for upset stomach... maybe I will try it (or some other stuff), if the problem persists or I can't take any time off... but I honestly think 2-3 days off will be best for me :) - that is my primary goal for now.

thank you for your advice, honey. it means a lot *huggles*

how are you today? I hope you feel all right and your head behaves *crosses fingers*

M took valerian as pills, sugar-coated, and they didn't have any taste at all... just saying ;)

I'm better today, thanks :) Still a bit groggy, but the rest is fine. I have to clean the house :/ We'll have visitors on Wednesday and Thursday, so there's not putting it off for any longer, sigh ;)

pills, you say? sounds not bad :P. maybe I will look into it, if my "vacation time!" plan fails :).

it's great that you're better :). it would be terrible if you felt bad and STILL had to clean the house *HUGS*

I HATE Sundays, they have been ruined by Monday school/work for me for ages and the feeling typically starts creeping up early afternoons already.

Insomnia gets us all, it seems. *hugs* After trying all natural remedies available I resorted to regular sleeping pills but quickly put them aside, they make you all groggy the following day. Not something I recommend. Try this: a sense of accomplishment puts us in a relaxed mood. It can be something totally mundane, like having your laundry done. Or a paragraph of fanfic written *eying hopefully* ;) Anything that's done and over with. It works for me.
Vacation is an excellent idea, even a short one can work wonders, taking your mind off work duties and providing a much needed perspective. Going away for a weekend in a place you know will relax you, in good company does the trick for me. It goes a long way too.

yeah, I share your feelings about Sundays... in the afternoon I'm starting to get cranky because I feel that Monday is approaching quickly and as much as I like my job... damn it! why the weekends always seem SO short? *stomps her foot ( ... )
