You're not anti-gay?
You're not "gay bashing"?

"It's not a life style that is good for this nation."
"I honestly think it's the biggest threat our nation has, even more than terrorism and Islam."

WHAT THE FUCK?!

After watching this video and hearing what this woman has to say, I am truly and deeply appalled. Especially with the statement about it being a bigger 'threat' than terrorism and Islam. Since when have you known a gay man or woman to tote a gun around and kill people because they're not homosexual like them? Since when have you known a gay man or woman to kill someone based on their religion? Since when have you known a gay man or woman to have so much hate in their heart? No, my dear. People who think and act like YOU are a threat to today's society.

People like YOU who spread this word of bigotry and hatred which taints the minds of others. If heard by tomorrow's children, might persuade them into hating as much as you. What would she say if someone told her, "Women are our biggest threat our nation has, even more than terrorism and Islam"? Oh yes, she would think differently and lash out saying that we are oppressing her. Well, you my dear are oppressing homosexuality.

Love is love. It sees no color, no sex, no age. It can be platonic, family, or the deep and true kind. Love is a beautiful thing when shared between people. I know I sound like such a hippie talking like that, but it's what I believe.

Nobody chooses to be gay. That's another thing that bothers me. I did a lot of research about the "Gay Gene" when I was taking a college writing course. They found that there is indeed proof that the gay gene exists. I believe it does. Why would someone choose to outwardly be "different" and be ridiculed for it? Why would someone choose to live a life where they are constantly oppressed and hated against for loving someone that is not the opposite of their gender? Nobody chooses. It just HAPPENS. When I asked my old friend Mike L. about what it was that attracted him to men instead of women, he answered with this:

"You know the way YOU look at men? They are desireable. You love the way their hand feels in yours. You love the way that they make you feel safe. You love the way it feels when they kiss you. It's the same for us, except that I'm a male as well. I have the same attraction towards a male like a female would."

It kind of made me realize back then (this was in high school) that it was in fact a gene. A genetic trait that tells the body, the brain, the whole entire integumentary system that they are attracted to the same sex.

Throughout my life I have had many gay friends, and seeing what they had to deal with broke my heart. Mike L. was afraid to come out in high school. So afraid, in fact, that we made a deal that I would 'pretend' to be his girlfriend so his cover wouldn't be blown. He wasn't the stereotypical gay that most people perceive a homosexual male to be. Although there are gay men out there that fill the stereo type, there are those that do not. Mike, at the time, listened to bands like Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age. He wore band T-shirts and baggy pants. He looked like a typical "straight guy." But just-in-case, we played the bf/gf role to save face.

Looking back, I'm sad that he didn't wear it proudly. No need for a gay pride parade in the hallways of Linn-Mar, but still. It's sad to think that he was scared of losing friends because of his sexual orientation. It's sad to think that someone would dump a friend for such a mediocre reason as that. But, to some it's not such a mediocre issue, disturbingly. However, I do wish that he was able to let people know and be proud of it. I saw no shame, but that was because I understood.

But getting back to the main point at hand, I hope that someday people like Representitive Sally Kern no longer run office. However, in the real word that will sadly NEVER happen. There will always be someone hating. There will always be someone trying to stop equality in some form. And it's sad that future children will be coming into such a tainted world as that where parents who don't believe that love is equal will teach them that same-sex relations are a disgusting thing.

It is not.

For it is simply love.
And love is all you need.
