reply from my brother who is a Baptist preacher:

First you must correct the statement about Baptism. The act of Baptism is one of the two obedience commandments given by the Lord (the other being the Lord's Supper). Baptism is done as an act of public affiliation with Christ. After a person is saved they are commanded to follow the Lord in Baptism ( Read more... )

I wish that you could talk with my brother about this as he has more knowledge in this subject than I do. He has studied religion, and I have not. I'm not gonna try and answer your wonderings of the Bible because I may or may not be able to answer...in either case, it will not change your mind. Just as what you respond with will not change my mind. I'm not a theologian...I just love God and know in my heart that it is right. Have I ever questioned it? Absolutely. Did I seek answers from many different sources? Yes. All of the researching and questioning brought me closer to God. No need to continue this disscussion as I can't answer your questions. My brother may be able to go into this further, but I can not. I've read of many of the things you mention though. As far as the Bible not being written by God but by men...God INSPIRED the Bible, He did not write it. No one ever said that He wrote it...as we all know that men wrote the Bible, just as MOST people know that God inspired the writings of these men.

I'm not trying to force anything on anyone maryAnn. I write things on my blog as they are relevant to me, because my blog is in fact about me. I put it there telling what i learn and know as truth, and not as a truth everyone must adopt. I have exited the saftey of my blog only temporarily as this subject has become popular to discussion. I respect whatever anyone wants to believe.

Some men are bound by the sum of their limitations to rise above ignorance, complacency, secularism, and fear. Whether that truth lies in your vision of reality of mine is a matter of interpretation.

I would for sake of knowledge only implore you to spend just a little time understanding the 5 geometric dimensions of PHI. Not to alter your spirituality, but to expand your conciousness. You owe that to yourself.

If God's word is inaccurate we might as well close our church doors and go home.

Actually, it's "if the bible is inaccurate, we might as well close our church doors and go home", and that is exactly correct. THAT is the reason why the church has condemmened the Gnostic gospels as herecy, burnt their literature, murdered and hunted them, and tried to erase them from history.

Nothing is hidden that will not be revealed
