Graphic Novel Things

The Deadman Wonderland manga is WAAAAAAYYYY better than the anime. I mean, it's still gory, and the fanservice with Shiro still squicks me out, but there's less of it, and things are being more fully explained. And Kazuma Kondou's art is really nice to look at.

THE FLASH. OMGGGGGGGG. I started with Secret Files and Origins #1 and 2, because I figured I've already read most of the mythology on wikis, so I wouldn't be spoiled or anything. And it's actually a really fun read! It lays out the mythology very clearly, and has some great features. Like the tour of the Central City Museum, and the ads for the Rogues's costume designer. Secret Files and Origins #2 has a whole story about the Rogues, and I just. GAH. I'm not gonna lie, a lot of my interest with the Rogues obviously stems from the casting of Wentworth and Dominic, but I'm really starting to love them as a group now (on a shippy side not: Heat Wave giving Captain Cold his gun for safekeeping while he's on the straight and narrow <3__<3). I mean, Captain Cold's shock and outrage when the Black Flash almost killed Captain Boomerang, and then I saw a mention of one issue where the Rogues have a party, and Wally West gets invited, and I just. They seem like a fun bunch of Rogues XDDDD

I've just started Crisis On Infinite Earths now. The thing is, I mostly read on my phone when I'm on the bus, and rendering is PAINFULLY slow. On the plus side, it builds dramatic tension? At this rate though, it will probably take me all year to get through my reading list, which is like, half of Flash Vol 2, all of volumes 3 and 4, the Crisis trilogy, and a few other major DCU things, and some Rogue-heavy stories.

I'm so excited for the premiere I even did some Flash-inspired nail art, and I don't even care if it's not work-appropriate; I'm gonna wear it tomorrow! At least I don't have any meetings with important people. It doesn't look that great close-up, but it's the first time in months that I've done freehanded nail art, and it looks ok from far away, so I'm happy with it!

Arrow is also looking really exciting, now that I've seen the previews. I felt like S2 was getting really heavy with the melodrama, and I really didn't care for Oliver's love... pentagon? But the preview clip seemed really promising. Also PETER STORMARE YAY.
