Favorite subjects (if a Hogwarts student - why?):
Charms. Bellatrix has always been fascinated with charms, though even she will admit that more often than not, it was the dark charms that drew her attention.
Least favorite subjects (as above):
Muggle Studies. As soon as was possible, she separated herself from such menial and useless study.
Profession (if not in school):
Bellatrix is a lady. Despite being a Death Eater, she has no need of a proper profession. She is a socialite.
Appearance (be detailed, and feel free to include a link to a picture of your intended play-by (PB)): Bellatrix has grey eyes and a quirk when she smiles which makes it more of a smirk indicative of secrets. Her hair is long, dark brown and cascades down her back. She is perhaps 5'4", though she carries herself with such grace that she is imposing even at her height.
Intended PB: Helena-Bonham Carter
Personality (strengths, weaknesses, quirks, etc):
Bellatrix embodies strength and looks for it in others. Yet, she finds muggleborns unnerving and cannot seem to accept their intrusion into her life. She finds their magic offensive and crass, though she has no logical basis for this accusation. If she were to look deep inside herself, she would be forced to admit they scare her and that she feels their power is more pure, though that is something to which her conscious self would never admit.
Being a strong woman, Bellatrix only kneels to one man, her Dark Lord. It is he alone for whom she will obey. In her mind, not even her husband Rodolphus can control her, though the reality of that may or may not be accurate. The ferocity of her independence has led to her biases regarding the place of women in wizarding society, though she reminds herself continuously that manipulation of men's heartstrings is often more effective than open power.
Having grown up in luxury, she is accustomed to it and wears only the finest silks and jewels. She wears them all well, carefully fabricating and maintaining her image. After all, one must always dress the part. While image is not everything to her, it is very much an important part of the whole.
While she is quite capable with an AK, she uses them only on proper muggles and other non-wizard entities. This is countered, however, by her enthusiasm for pain, which she delivers in exquisite fashion. That she doesn't use AK's on wizards and witches may not be noticed by others, though when it was noticed by Rodolphus, she merely smiled, "When they stop screaming, the fun is over."
Relationships (include friendships, characters whom your character might be unfriendly with, and intended/past romantic ships, if applicable):
She is unfriendly with her sister, Andromeda, though her sense of family loyalty is such that she does not actively hunt her sister and her family down. That Nymphadora was the Dark Lord's choice of victim wasn't her fault; it was Andromeda's, for being a blood-traitor.
She allows most of the Death Eaters to think they are close, though her sister, Narcissa, and Augustus are her closest friends. Rodolphus, as her husband, is of course privy to most of her deep thoughts as well.
Of her nephew, Draco, she is exceptionally fond. She wishes to guide him, arming him with Occlumency as well as other Dark Arts. Without a child of her own, she dotes on him as much as her nature allows.
Background:
Bellatrix was born the oldest of three sisters into pure-blood aristocracy. While pampered, she was not spoiled as she always felt Narcissa was, being the baby. She never blamed her sister, nor her parents. Indeed, she always viewed Narcissa as frail and did what she could to protect her sister from anything that might cause her pain.
She was always a daddy's girl, insisting on attending all his business meetings. Her eyes lit up every time he'd agree to take her with him. This continued until she was eleven and attended Hogwarts.
At Hogwarts, she excelled in charms, as well as ancient runes. She fell in easily with the crowd that was to become her future companions as Death Eaters. It was at Hogwarts, that her irregular courtship with Rodolphus began. Their sparring occasionally reached proportions that kept the whole dungeon up. [applicant's note: I am happy to keep her birth date as 1951 or make her younger. In aristocratic circles, it doesn't sound right that she'd have a husband younger by enough years to have Rodolphus be a contemporary of Severus', but as that is her birth date according to the Black Family Tree, I have honored it. Personally, I think all the Black girls should be about 3 years younger than they are listed as being. However, just let me know how you'd enjoy doing this, and I'll run with it. ^_^ ]
After Hogwarts, Bellatrix married Rodolphus. Whether she truly loved him then, or married for political purposes, perhaps only she and Rodolphus know. Certainly, he is one of only two who have gained love and loyalty from her.
Voldemort courted Bellatrix as well, though his forays into her life began before she graduated Hogwarts. Yet, those were subtle and very light touches. Once she graduated, he pressed harder, enticing her with the very things she needed and craved most in the world. Thus began her dual marriage; to Rodolphus and to Voldemort. For she considered her Dark Mark very much like Voldemort's wedding band, and the acceptance of it bound her to his greatness forever.
Once free of Azkaban, Bellatrix has begun working towards her Dark Lord's supremacy again. She has contacted her sister, and begun training her nephew. That Andromeda was foolish enough to not counsel Nymphadora against becoming an auror was weakness. While Voldemort had known Bellatrix's loyalty to her family and would never ask her to actively hunt down and kill them, she would never stand in his way if he chose to, nor allow them to go after him.
Sexual Orientation: Chosen lifestyle is heterosexual, though she is properly bisexual. It is more that she doesn't care. Sex is a weapon to be used. The victim's gender is irrelevant.
Kinks/turn ons/turn offs:
Strength is her first and most obvious turn-on. She lusts after power, and men who wield it well. She's not found another woman who can wield power as she can, and so therefore hasn't been romantically or sexually interested in another woman for some time.
Her turn-off is weakness, be it in the form of simpering fools or sycophantic rhetoric.
Political association: Bellatrix is a devout Death Eater. She has no love for any person or ideal that threatens her aristocratic life. Muggle-borns, if they must exist, should be there to serve the pure-bloods, though preferably, of course, they should not exist at all.
Her loyalty to Voldemort is of a different caliber entirely. His power calls to her. She needs it as a lover's caress. That his views on the wizarding world match hers, was only a bonus.
Even after the Ministry of Magic fiasco, even with having to reconsider her views on HIM, due to the revelation of his parentage, she found that she still felt married to him, bound to him, and that connection is far deeper than blood. He may have been born a half-blood, but he rejected it, embracing instead the aristocratic views his pure-blood family would have honored.
Intended Journal name (creative names are happy-making, but a default mask_harry, or mask_hermione is fine, too!):
sacredisprofane Two potential plot-bunnies!:
Obviously, there are the questions regarding how the DE would restructure if Voldemort has apparently disappeared. Bellatrix would vie for power, claiming she knows where he is. The question is, can she keep the facade up? Who would aid her in this endeavor and who would take her down? Especially given her own misgivings that Voldemort might have told someone else of his plan to steal Nymphadora's abilities instead of her. Had she lost his favor?
I'd like to delve into the relationship between Draco and Bellatrix. Would she twist him more? Hone his cruelty to more machiavellian standards? Or would he rebuke her attempts to come into his life beyond the "required tutelage?"
A third for good measure: This puts Bella at 45 years old, almost. Would the loss of her niece (whom she refused to claim) and the presence of Draco in her life cause her to want to have a child? What would happen to a pregnant Bellatrix?

((charmed private))
Where is He? In here, I write those thoughts I would never express to anyone. My loyalty to Him is not wavering, though that is how it would be perceived. I wonder though, where to look? Tonight several of us are meeting. I am considering heading to my errant sister's house and torturing her pathetic excuse for leaving the family. Perhaps it could tell me what I need to know. I need to understand why He chose her. Why He didn't tell me. Have I lost that much favor? At least I did not manage to land myself in Azkaban again, and that without groveling to those wretched muggle-lovers.
He could not have gone to someone else. There is no other. I am his most loved. Yet, here, in the dark of my fears, I see the laughter of the traitor, the turn-coat. He never laughs, truly, but I see it nonetheless. Do I dare defile myself enough to talk with him? To show weakness enough to find out if he knows where He has got to?
Rodolphus has seen the flicker in my eyes. He's indicated as much with his own, but he respects me enough to wait until I am ready. I will not lose Him, though. I spent a generation in Azkaban for Him and He proved me correct. I know He lives. I know He will return, and by His side, I shall be queen.
RP Sample (third person narrative, please):
Bellatrix devoured the Daily Prophet in the pale sunlight. Rodolphus hadn't gotten up yet, so she had come to the kitchen to find the paper waiting for her. Absently, she snapped her fingers and a house elf, she didn't bother herself with the effort of acknowledging it, created tea and a lemon scone. While she hadn't touched the scone, she knew it was lemon. After all, lowly creature that it was, it still knew better than to court death with something else.
On the front page, strangely still, was a photograph of her niece. The article said she'd been drained of her ability, now to live as a squib, if she ever woke. Something odd washed through her veins. She didn't spend much time analyzing it. Her Lord must have done it. Yet, he hadn't told her of his intent.
Setting the paper down, she took a sip of her tea, looking up to find the questioning eyes of her husband.
"The blood-traitor has lost her daughter," she said simply, picking up her scone and breaking off a bite-sized piece.
[applicant's note: Given that I am applying for Bellatrix, I figured that some of the OOC information were things she might be privy to. If you wish for that not to be the case, by all means, let me know and I'll be happy to amend my point of view with her. ^_^ ]
