I've decided to take a page out of JustSonya's book and
share in a month of art. As luck would have it, I've completed a few mini-art projects at the art center, thanks to the drop in workshops on Sundays.
The 0th item (as are the first and second) were actually created in October. I'm still counting them as projects for this month. This is a mask I put together as a fun pre-Halloween sort of thing. I like the color combination (surprise), but I wish I'd had something other than school glue to use when putting it together.
This item is a basic origami balloon made from a piece of paper printed using vegetables & fruit. Half a lime makes a really nice looking print.
This next image is a sugar skull which I decorated with frosting. I really didn't have any idea what to do with it. I'd thought that drawing outlines of all the bones would be neat, but there was no black frosting. Therefore, I thought I'd try a "Blue Man" look. I think it looks a bit possessed.
Below are a series of rice papers that I dyed today. I thought that these would make nice paper for origami.

Above is a fish print, also known as gyotaku. Apparently, there was a bit of a Japanese them to today's projects, not that I minded it. This was also the first time I've handled a whole dead fish.
My trip to the art center this afternoon had a dual purpose. The art projects above should make the first purpose clear. More important was the need to lift the lid off the pit to let the wind blow away some ash, and to let it cool down. Though we won't be taking the pots out of the pit until tomorrow, I noticed one of my bowls was on top, so I reached in to take it out. I look forward to seeing the rest of my pieces tomorrow morning. Until then, I'll keep looking at this one.
