Today*
I am as old as my mother was when I was born.**
I still have preparations to make before I will be off to meet Chicago sister in Jackson and head up to Mackinac Island for a long weekend. I'm hopeful that we won't encounter too much rain while there, but I still plan to bike around the island even if we do. At my current rate of going there an average of once every 17.5 years, who knows whether I'll be in any sort of shape to do that the next time I make it there?
My inner organization dragon has been temporarily satisfied by the trip binder I put together containing driving directions, ferry schedules, etc. I may pick up one of those old-fashioned folding puzzles known as a "map" to give us more options in choosing our route, should we choose to venture off the beaten path. Chicago sister may not realize it yet, but she'll be riding up front and hence inherit the role of Maps McGillicutty. B. may have many strengths, but knowing what direction we are headed is not one of them.
Nine more things to do and then we'll be off!
* I was born in the Pacific timezone, rather late at night. Now that I live in the eastern timezone, the anniversary I mark won't really occur until the wee hours of tomorrow morning.
** Technically, this too is not today. This will actually occur 8 days from now, not adjusted for timezone. I don't know what time of day my mother was born, so I can't pinpoint the actual time when x will equal 2y.
