Predetermined to be an asshole

I love to debate, to argue, and to discuss ideas. I think it's incredibly important to be able to defend and articulate your beliefs because that's the best way to tell whether you really believe them or not. A lot of people hate getting into debates about religion, politics, etc. because they feel uncomfortable discussing them. My guess is that 9 ( Read more... )

"something that had zero to do with you" - actually it did have to do with me. You were making a statement about how the WORLD works, first the statement that there is only one true love, then that all events are pre-determined. Since this was a general statement about the universe, it has something to do with everyone in the universe. This is a discussion board. "Is that what you call debate?" - No. I think I outlined what I call debate in my journal. What you saw was not frustration at things going my way (because according to innocent bystanders, I was the one who articulated my case, thus things WERE going my way). You saw frustration at someone who had a pompous attitude about his beliefs, but was inconsistent in presenting them and refused to respond to direct challenges to those ideas. Likewise, you told me I was wrong without challenging my ideas (which I defended and explained), and acted like you had properly defended yours...which you NEVER did. When someone tells me I am wrong (and I have explained why I think I am right), I expect them to tell me why my arguments are invalid. That simply did not happen. How many times do I have to explain this? This is like the 10th time I have explained my frustration as being related to your non-committal to discuss specifics of our differing ideas...and you don't understand why I get aggravated? I spend 15 minutes writing a well thought ( ... )

How arrogant of you to assume or demand that I explain ANYTHING I say, especially when my original post had NOTHING to do with you. It was directly intended to the writer of the journal, Kurt, and not you. You think because you want someone to respond the way you want this means they have to? Guess again ( ... )
