(This OP can't resist filling her own prompt! I've written a few parts that can either stop there or - if enough people enjoy it - can be extended into more!
Oh and I have also taken liberties with the timing. I've had to make it 150 years since the First Contact War to make human slavery commonplace rather than something new.)
The Art Of Obedience
Saren Arterius was bored.
He wasn't a stranger to boredom; he'd spent his childhood suspended in that state, longing for more. More adventure, more people, more danger. Being a spectre now, he had hoped boredom was long behind him.
But, alas, he hadn't taken into account the 'gatherings'. Invitations were regularly send around all high-profile spectres and Citadel fat cats, disguising the fact that all of these parties were compulsory

(Glad everyone's enjoying it so far!)
But there was nothing there that appealed to Saren.
He disliked humans as much as the next turian but unlike many of them, he was also completely disinterested in them. He failed to understand why so many of his associates desired to have them around, even as slaves. He could think of little worse than having a human cluttering up his home.
Displeased, he placed his drink down on the bar and signalled to Nihlus that now would probably be a good time to leave. They edged around the chaos, making for the closest exit. They were so close, the door dark and alluring, when a firm hand clapped him on the shoulder.
"Saren!" Sparatus. Spirits curse him. "Are you leaving so soon? Where is your slave?"
Saren gritted his teeth and turned to face him. He wanted nothing more than to hit him, to set those gleaming teeth rattling in his gums. Instead, he said "You know humans are my least favourite race, Councillor. I would not wish for one to live with me."
Sparatus laughed. "None of us like humans. That

Come now, A!A. It would be unseemly if all of Sparatus's guests received a gift except Nihlus, especially since a Turian galactic councilor would be held to the highest levels of hosting etiquette and scrutinized by his high-ranking Turian guests.

Saren did his usual scan of his apartment before he entered it, guiding his slave inside. He dropped the chain and fiddled with the lock, encrypting it. He always liked to air on the side of caution. When he turned back around, she was still stood exactly where he had put her, the chain in a pool at her feet. She gave him another comfortable smile
