As a kink meme PCA newbie, it's so fascinating to me that there isn't one ship that dominates slash fics the way a lot of het is Shakarian and a lot of femslash is femshep/Liara.

My guess is that 1. there weren't any canon slash romances by ME2, when the series really established its popularity, and 2. male Shepard isn't as popular among fan writers and artists in any case. Both the other categories involve femshep with a popular canon LI, and people get understandably attached to their in-game romances.

In general, I find it quite interesting that in this fandom, gay pairings are even quite low represented in the total amount of works...

Most fandoms through their slash pairings right at you when you search for them (fanfic, pictures, ...), here it's all Asari-sex-godesses on google :P
And here in the meme, you most of the times focus on (at least one) of the ladies.

I'm quite ok with that ;) but sometimes I do wonder why. More strong female canon characters and less male-male interaction necessary if you play the game as female fan? Dunno.. What do I know anyway?
