He manifested in the distance, a lone man walking with a hard conviction. His heavy coat was substituted for an open leather jacket over a haggard white shirt, his untamed hair was uncovered, but as in their prior meeting a guitar case slumped over his shoulder by its black strap.

His eyes were staring directly ahead, inexplicable and static.

Toshi swung his skull a curt inch to ward away the black locks seeping into his sleep-deprived vision. "Ya still don't understand do ya? I'm not corrupt, on the contrary I am genuine - a clear reflection of the true face of this world." The young man flicked his thumb from the hilt of his blade and jabbed it indicatively at his profile. "Look! Scarred, chipped and brutal. I am not good or evil, my agency is power. Power has no ethical preference. Power is absoluteHe relinquished her locks in favor of reaching for her throat when unforeseen strength tipped his balance. Toshiya staggered but successfully rose to his feet. "Pretty strong for a skinny chick. Maybe I did not hit you enough? You'll lear--" Her subsequent statement cut him short because it bore straight into his principles. Debt. His debt. "...Really...?" He mouthed in distaste. He was hungry for her flesh, her blood. But he was not an animal, a simple beast; he had to abide by his words. And yet were words not but a tool, another weapon. All was fair in war thus was he was ( ... )

The cheerful greeting didn't pull any reaction from Abel. Perhaps though, it only aided in that red that was now visibly starting to creep into the winter blue eyes, as 02 began to leak its influence in, happily feeding the abject rage that was set ablaze as soon as he had opened that door ( ... )

"Lilith," he interjected over her besieging words, his blackened gaze static on the towering man. His existence clearly interfered with the laws of his reality, just like that monster and his former acquaintance, Mon, and like the two he coveted their faculties and simultaneously detested their supremacy. But they could be harmed, could die. This gave him solace, the inevitability of death hung over one and all.

Toshi slowly elevated his stance from a crouched poise, forcing her digits to part from the frigid metal ring. "Lilith," he reiterated, softer. "Would you rather be a soldier or an innocent victim?" His eyebrows creased. "I know your answer, and you know mine."

He gave the visitor a quick evaluation. Immortality was a farce - the mantra played over and over in his psyche. The assassin steadied the rifle. "Do it you mean motherfucker. I'll see you in hell." His finger compressed on the trigger, ejecting a hail of bullets across the room.

A monster. Yes. Just like almost any monster, he could reasonably argue. That was what he was becoming, here and now. That was what he may end up as in the end. A monster. ... That was what he'd always be. Then and now. The nanomachines surged.

Better to be a monster than helpless. Better to be a monster than to lose her again.

Than to see her hurt again.

Death was inevitable for one party here at least.

Toshis mistake was raising himself off of Lilith and aiming the gun fully at the priest.

The second mistake was him pulling the trigger. The bullets ripped into the standing form, slicing into flesh and cracking the bones they hit, turning the cloth and the body into a network of holes. Hot blood flooded his lungs, and choked his windpipe, red bedecking his mouth and nose as he toppled backwards... Motionless.

Then, movement. It wasn't a twitch, it wasn't just the jerking of limbs as the brain shut down. It started as a mumble. Thick and impeded by the blood in his mouth as he rasped it out. Words Lilith would know all too well.

"Krusnik 02...

Release of restrictions to 40%... Confirmed"

It was an explosion of black. Of razors. Wings. Massive black wings spreading outwards, then up, as the priest slowly pulled himself upright. First sitting, then standing, as with soft, gentle clinks, the nanomachines forced the bullets outward, closing up the wounds as if nothing had touched him.

Perfect and pristine.

But it wasn't with regret that 02 took this form, if the jagged, animalistic grin was of any indication. Vicious and almost mindless, 40% was almost overlapped by 80%, Abel just barely holding control over the beast. Maybe he should let go. Who would miss him?

No one would mourn him.

Kill it. Before it hurts someone else. Exterminate it properly before it proliferates. It was in the blink of an eye that Abel moved, lashing out to try ( ... )

As the gaunt figure of blood and perforated bone fell away the man mutely pushed his hand into his jacket and fingered for the appropriate item by shape. He did not put a period to the creature's life, to think so was ridiculous; the woman was far too livid in her prediction of his demise at Abel's wrath. As all supernatural entities he had the displeasure to bare witness to this specimen was little different in his disregard for human ingenuity. Enlightenment time ( ... )

"Is this how you repay all your debts, Toshiya?"

She was disappointed in him. He had a moral compass. She'd seen as much in his eyes. And despite everything that had happened, she still believed him a good person, somewhere deep beneath layers of scar tissue. He was right; he wasn't evil. He had been shaped into something he was not.

But even more painful than aching ribs, the wire cutting into flesh, any physical injury he could've inflicted was seeing Abel this way.

Regressing.

Slipping.

She reached for Toshiya, laying a hand delicately on his shoulder. "As he is, it's pointless. He'll be able to destroy you before you can reach the door, even in pieces. You'll only be further frustrating him.

Release me; I will go to Abel, and you will leave as you are. I won't allow him to hurt you."

... Strap bombs to himself? No, excuse him, it'sself? The nanomachines had trouble enough as it was the way Abel took care of his body. They had been starved last time. To cause that much damage would not only be more of a hindrance, and the nanomachines would indeed be angered enough to take their rage out on the man who would force their host to such measures ( ... )

"Shut up! My business with that man is now my own. You have no prerogative." Toshiya gazed into the Crusnik's eyes, enforcing the stalemate. The beauty of warfare was in relative similarity in human weakness. A shot to the brain was sufficient - a permanent residence in the abyss of death. The being bore no handicap, he was like a tower among pawns or a cheater worming his way into a legitimate game. "He shouldn't exist..." He regarded Abel. "Leave my game you monster. Hey, are you listening you fuck? You taint the purity ( ... )

Fingers rose to her throat as though to claw away that wire, a soft exhale of protest leaving her lips, and genuine shock registering in her eyes before the wave of searing hot electricity blew past them. The wire went lax, but a majority of the damage had already been done. She felt hot liquid spilling forth and over her chest, staggering a step forward before falling unceremoniously backwards, remnants of her sari splaying haphazardly over her form as red hair fanned out, quickly dampened by blood of an all too similar color.

She won't die. She can't die. She can't leave him, after she'd just come back. That's impossible... she won't allow it.

She stares at the ceiling and repeats the mantra, mouth silently working in prayer.

A cheater. That might do it. Something that would ruin everything he ever touched. Another painful barb to try and work out, and Abel receded just a little more into the back as 02 took the verbal abuse without batting an eye. A monster. Something that had no right to exist. He'd heard it all too many times before, and he gazed back at Toshi with knowing carelessness. As if he couldn't understand what was uttered ( ... )

The air escapes his lungs in acute gasps, sucking and exhaling out carbon. He was unaware of anything in his vicinity but himself, twitching under the influence of the shock. Abel played a risky gamble when he eliminated the wire - erasing a conductive material of this caliber called for immense power. It was sheer luck the current skipped his heart and her own when it shot through their persons ( ... )

He could have cooked him through. He wanted to. He wanted to leave that man a smoldering pile of carbon on the floor. Nothing but a stinking grease stain under his boots. The way he should be.

Abel shook himself, and his hand, ridding it of Toshis blood that spotted it. He could dwell on this later. He felt Liliths lifeblood ebbing out over his hands, he didn't have much time left before she passed on... The hospital. He had to get to the hospital. He had to find someone.

Dimly, he could hear that crazed laughter behind him... Icy fingers curled around his heart just to hear it... He'd lose her again... He'd lose her if he stopped now.

This could all be dealt with later...
