SO MANY THINGS

So a lot of complaints about the new Gen is that THEY LOOK LIKE DIGIMON 8E This has been going on since Gen 2/3 I think. Firstly, I LOVE Digimon, but I can see how their designs can be off putting. With Digimon, they're usually super detailed (barring basic and some rookie forms), and have extra ornaments and garments for no real reason. Like Gatomon's gloves or the feathers under MetalGreymon's helmet...thing. Most of the stronger/adult evolutions also tend to be more human like.
Pokemon generally has a more simplistic style! Of all the newer Pokemon, I think the most 'digimon' like are Dialga and Palkia (and the new otter starter). This isn't really a BAD thing just different, and I can see how folks who don't like Digimon can be a bit irked by it.
Personally? I don't mind any of the new wacky designs as long as they can still fit naturally in the Pokemon world. Example - Luxray. While a BADASS lion thing, it's hard imagining Luxray's trying to blend in in the wild. They're kind of BRIGHT. But then I remember one--it has frikkin' X-RAY VISION. If something spots it and hides, haha TOO BAD LUXRAY CAN STILL FIND YOU. And then in Mystery Dungeon a whole pack (pride?) of them live in the mountains where electric storms are constant--not like in the savannah, as you would think is normal for lions. That makes a lot more sense and helps me accept the weird designs more.
Of course I could be over thinking it \e_e/! But whatevs. What I think I'm trying to say is--most Digimon are designed to just Look Cool. They don't have to make sense because they're bits of data scrambled together to make UltraMegaFireMetalKickassGreymon. With Pokemon, though some of the designs do seem awkward, on the whole they usually have a FUNCTION and when drawn or animated, seem very natural/organic, unless they're intended not to be.
SO THIS BRINGS ME TO THE NEW LEGENDARIES
LOOK AT THOSE SUCKERS. Reshiram is BEAUTIFUL. I love that angel chicken! And Zekrom just looks plain BADASS. Not even going to lie--compared to Palkia, Dialga, Groudon, and Kyogre? These two are on levels far above them. Their designs are complex and yet simple and uniform, and they have this bizarre organic yet other worldly feeling going for them. They look AMAZING. Not really Digimon and not super simple Pokemon. There's a great balance there.
Though admittedly I'm still not sure what to think of Reshiram's unfortunately placed crotch feathers.
SO TWO WEEKS AGO WAS THE FINAL GRAND FESTIVAL EPISODE. And Dawn lost! I wasn't sure if she would or not, honestly, but I was kind of underwhelmed by the episode, so no big summary.
Now despite this, I LOVE Dawn. She's come a long way since we first saw her. She was losing her early contests so much, but now, after losing the Grand Festival, her DREAM, she's able to cheer with her Pokemon and move on. The thing is, she's not exactly sure what's she's going to do after this, but she wants to keep moving regardless. She is one mature little ten year old.
I really have to wonder what her fate will be after Diamond/Pearl ends. I still think she looks similar enough to the new B/W girl to pass for her, but she has PIPLUP and if Piplup is her main, they won't be able to promote the new starters :/a Sooo she may be out of here. There's an episode coming up where Kenny (Dawn's childhood rival no one cares about) wants to challenge Ash to a battle--with a bargain of asking Dawn to travel with him instead if he wins. I really love that Kenny thinks there's something between Dawn and Ash when in reality neither of them could care less about romance and they work as siblings.
Dawn's other rival, Zoe, also WON the Grand Festival, so maybe she's going to be a big shot or something and travel?? I don't even know. I'm not even sure how old Zoe is, but she's got to be one of the youngest Top Coordinators ever.
Just gonna have to wait and see what happens :|a If they do split up, maybe Dawn will go travel around Johto or meet up with May or something. They have the potential to be BFFL forever.
Idk I wanted to do a dynamic double image thing?? It didn't work out 8( The /foreshortening is really messed up, but I at least like how their hands look.
Zorua and Zoroark! I still hate Zorua's tuft of hair, but the both of them are growing on me a lot. . .I gave Zoroark people legs, they look a bit awkward.
In the movie manga summary, Zoroark can create perfect illusions of people, and Zorua can transform into them, but still keeps its tail. Fox demons \o/
ANGEL CHICKEN!1 Man I love reshiram so much augh \o/ It may be the first Pokemon I seriously try to collect IT'S SO DAMN PRETTY.
BW starter doodles! Gonna clean it up and maybe use as a new splash image for !CATCH! Gosh I super need to update there.
