Edward Elric was walking towards the Colonel’s office to send in his report. He looked at his horribly written report and sighed. He hadn’t really had time to put thought into it. And why should he anyway? He was just going to get another mission so he could write more of these wonderful and enjoyable reports. Woo. Everyone wants to waste their life writing reports, right?

“Life is just so wonderful,” Edward mumbled to himself. To make it worse, Mustang was never easy on him. In fact, he pushed harder on him every time. It was as if he was trying to make Ed go nuts.

“Come in,” Roy Mustang said when hearing a knock at his door. Edward walked in with the same tired look as always. Roy set down his pen and leaned back in his chair.

“Your back, FullMetal,” Roy said. He had expected it to at least take a day more than it had. Edward nodded and set the report on Roy’s desk. He sat on the black couch and watched Roy pick up the report and twitch angrily as he started reading it.

“This is…quite badly written,” Roy said, looking at all the spelling errors, and the rare messy handwriting. Edward had messy handwriting when he was younger, but as he got older it improved and was perfect cursive. It was a rare occasion you ever got messy writing from the FullMetal Alchemist.

Edward didn’t reply. He didn’t really care at the moment. He had more on his mind. How Alphonse was doing. He hadn’t seen him for so long.

“Well, I think you’ll regret doing this mission so quickly. I have an important mission I was going to give to the next free subordinate, and I was hoping you’d be another day, because another person is going to be free tonight. But sadly, it was you who was free first. So, I’m sorry FullMetal, but I have to give you this mission,” Roy said setting down the report.

Edward sighed. Great. More missions. And to make it worse, one that might take him a long time. The reason he hadn’t seen Alphonse was because of these damn missions.

“Well? What is it? I wanna get it over with,” Edward said. Roy sighed and took out a file. He passed it to Edward.

“You’re going to be investigating terrorist grounds. I’m sure you’ve heard of the station bombing of Xenotime?” Roy questioned. Of course he did. Russell had been caught in the middle of it. But luckily, Russell had been clever enough to escape.

“Yes,” Edward simply replied.

“We lost a very important subordinate that day. He called us telling us he had information about a kidnapping they were planning, but he couldn’t pronounce the name well, so he’d give their plan to us. They had it documented, strange for terrorists. And well, we think it was because of the information he held in his briefcase that made the terrorists bomb the train station he was at,” Roy said. Edward nodded. Of course they did. No one wants secrets like that to be known.

“And we found a base, but for risks, we can’t send a higher rank in. And because you came here first, you have to go get that information. The information on the kidnapping. They have it neatly in a folder. You can sneak it out,” Roy said. Ed nodded. Sure he could.

“I’ll do the best I can,” Edward said. “Is that all?” Roy simply nodded and Edward stood up. He walked out while reading the file he was given by Roy. Roy watched as Edward walked out. He hoped that nothing happened to the smaller alchemist. He didn't need another dead subordinate.

Edward didn’t bother packing anything. Sure, he was going to a city pretty far away, but it didn’t really matter. He shouldn’t bring belongings to investigate terrorists any ways.

He sat on the empty bench, waiting for the train. It was a lonely wait, but he’d live. He had lived through worse than a wait without his brother.

Then the train pulled up to the station. Ed stood up and walked up the stairs and walked in. He found a quite empty train, only with a few other people. There was a young woman (that he knew Roy would definitely would flirt with), a man (most likely a businessman), and a two civilians sitting together, chitchatting.

Edward sat down at an empty seat and sat down. He looked out the window and watched the train speed off from the station again. It would be a long trip until he got to Malfor City.

Finally, he got to his stop. He stood up and walked out, and heard the train speed off again. He looked at the city. It was small and in an unknown area. Perfect for terrorists to hide.

Edward walked into the city and looked at all the people. Well, the people inside. All the few people were inside, hanging low, avoiding to be seen through the windows. What kind of isolated life did these people live here?

He opened the file again and looked. It should be down in Downtown. Even though mostly the whole town was downtown, he could tell that it meant the part where it was totally abandoned with only a few building. Sometimes, terrorists were really stupid, though.

There was a huge building, able to fill a whole army of terrorists.

He stood there in the road, staring at it. How would he get in without causing attention to himself? He examined the whole building with his eyes and then locked them at a basement entrance. Maybe no one was down in the basement. Well, the rest of the building seemed completely shut up, so it was his only choice.

He sneaked over, hiding behind larger objects, getting closer and closer. Soon he found himself there and opening the door. He found himself lucky; everyone was apparently upstairs working with something else. He closed the basement doors and looked around. It was a mess down here. They had weapons filed up in one side, and filing cabinets and desks over at the other side.

Maybe the document was in the filing cabinet. He walked over and gently opened the filing cabinet open at the letter K. When he found nothing, he looked in C. Then he looked in A. He found a document called “Abduction” in the A. He pulled it out and opened it.

He started reading through it. Abducting military man… description…. Damn it where was the name? Edward scanned through it more until he found himself at the name.

“Holy shit. Its-“ but he was caught off when he felt a sudden blow at his head and fell unconscious.
