Valentine’s Day is of the devil. I’m serious. I despise this one single holiday more than any other in existence. In fact, I enjoy all the other holidays. Valentine’s Day is the one festering sore that drips its yellow-green puss on my fun. People tell me that I feel this way because I don’t have a girlfriend, but I think that they are wrong

I like Valentines day insofar as I buy chocolate for me. But, yeah, that's it. That whole other people thing does suck.

Valentine's Day is best spent between romantics doing romantic things: unfortunately, consumer America tells us that romantic and expensive, two entirely different values, are somehow necessarily conjoined. They've ruined a great idea for a holiday.

As for reading: Chris, people have never understood your reading habits, they never will, and you know it. You're a prolific reader, you enjoy it, and some people just don't understand that kind of curious, internally open (oxymoronic) mentality. Just laugh, smile, and know that one day they will die.
