morning after Jack confronts Alois;

[You know- some speech isn't really worth it. Alois prefers to drop to his knees, haul Luca up onto his lap, and hug him very tightly.]

[It's night time and really, most should be asleep by now...but Ciel's stomach has been craving and he's been itching for something sweet and sure enough, he finds himself in the kitchen. There's a slice of cake left over from the cake Gilbert had made earlier in the day. He'd been saving it, just for this. After all, a little indulgence never hurt anyone, right?]

[Maybe Ciel's observant enough to see that there's a crack of light coming out from underneath the closed door of the pantry. Whether or not he is- it opens up.

Extra light slants out into the kitchen Alois sticks his head out.]

[He's caught red handed, plate of cake with a fork in his hand, closing the fridge door with a bare foot. It's a funny sight to behold, Ciel in his nightgown looking slightly surprised. Even so, the expression disappears soon enough.]

I thought you were asleep.

I thought you were, too. Hungry, are we?

[Alois has gone from curious to grinning. He's still mostly in the pantry, but his fingers drum at the door's edge.]

action; about 3:30 a.m.

[ there is no knocking. no "brother can i come in?" or red head of hair peeking in.

instead there's a slamming of the door as it opens and collides with the wall and quick footsteps on the floor. then there's a weight on the bed much lighter than it had been only days ago) and one 1) frantic, tear-stained Luca shaking desperately at Alois's shoulders. ]

[Alois, luckily, is easily woken by small brothers; he snaps up, reaching a little blindly, wondering- ]
