you know that when i hate you, it is because i love you to a point of passion that unhinges my soul.

ciel phantomhive.
other half.

Alois wants him. Needs him. They are similar, Alois insists; they are the same. His affection is open and it isn't always sweet, and his jealousy will flare easily. Possessiveness is prominent. Delight and frustration are, too. No harm will come to Ciel so long as Alois can prevent it. Not an eyelash will ache. Ciel seems to be doing a terrible job of making Alois not love him; 95% of what he does just draws Alois in closer. They've made promises and pacts with each other, and following the information that Claude, you know, will eventually kill Alois without eating his soul, Ciel announced that Alois would not die - not until Ciel dies as well, or unless Ciel takes Alois' life himself. ...And Alois thinks that he can live with that.

They fight, these days, because they don't really know how to handle each other. But Alois does and Ciel, behind closed doors, shows edges of his own affection- they're one package, together, and most everyone knows that.

luca macken.
baby brother.

The little brother. One might think that Luca Macken had worked as a sort of morality chain for Alois - not so. If anything, his extreme love of and dedication to Luca brought Alois to be more violent, in some ways; it wasn't just himself that needed to be taken care of, after all. Luca had to be fed, and protected, and warm and loved. Luca needed everything that Jim Macken Alois Trancy Big Brother could provide. And Big Brother was the only one who could provide it. He died over six years ago, is the thing, and so - well. Seeing him was an incredibly harsh shock to Alois' system. Even so, it's not as though Alois' big brother instinct as at all waned, and- well, maybe he's a bit more well equipped to take care of a child now that he's a little older, right? (Yeah, this is going to be a rocky experience.)

Alois is too overbearing, is the problem. He wants to have Luca set carefully in crystal, where he can be admired and polished but never harmed. Alois lies because he's terrified of telling Luca the truth, but the fact of the matter is he can never deny his brother - it's probably an Achilles' heel, really.

shiroe rei seki.
bro.

They've got an... odd sort of bro-ship going on. An empath, Shiroe seems to be a frequent victim of headaches whenever Alois' ups and downs roll around. The two may clash on occasion - Alois has his moods and Shiroe is... well, a bit of a tool, at times - but having received varying levels of a strange understanding and comfort, Alois sees Shiroe as a fixture of his new life.
He's laid claim to Shiroe, by now; the other boy's a firm and seasoned member of the household, and there's nothing anyone can do about it.

While Alois lives by hos before bros, he also lives by bros before people who aren't bros, so it's not a careless relationship.

jack vessalius.
better than angels would have been.

Alois quite honestly cannot wrap his understanding around Jack's words and actions. Jack Vessalius is good - Alois hadn't thought this possible, had really thought Luca to be the only person who could so blameless. (And Alois will believe this no matter what a person tells him: nothing can be Jack's fault. Pin the blame on someone else.) He is warm and welcoming and he smiles too much, and Alois knows very well how to fluster him, but he finds himself flustered at times, too. Jack makes him feel his age. It's kind of frightening.

Unfortunately, Alois doesn't know very much about having a father figure with good intentions, so he sets out to ruin it for himself: he kisses Jack, he offers himself up. What else is he supposed to do? But he's fiercely protective of Jack, now, and he simply will not allow this tangle of whatever to be taken away from him. Jack is a part of his house - his and Ciel's. (Alois is a very needy boy.)

yaha.
doting.

A comfort. Yaha speaks of love and he uses beautiful words; Alois is infatuated with him in the same way one appraises a vase of roses. What Yaha gives to Alois is priceless: validation. Adoration. Things that Alois yearns for from Claude (and even from Ciel) and things that he's never received (not since Luca). It's a potentially dangerous combination of personalities, but it's also a good thing that Yaha isn't a pedophile, because Alois would totally let him get into his pants.

jack kelly.
bro.

Alois has lived for some time with entertaining the idea of being Ciel Phantomhive's best friend. Before those daydreams, he'd never had one - so it's not quite a phrase he associates with Jack Kelly. Frankly, a friend is exactly what Jack is to Alois- a good friend, despite Alois telling him none of the truth. Some things are better left unsaid, right? This Jack's another person who can really get Alois feeling his own age - but not in a way that's so scary as with others. At times it's like a brotherly relationship, except Alois is the younger one for once. That's really strange. It's also kind of nice.

Even if Jack Kelly isn't officially a part of 'the household,' Alois has staked a claim in his own weird way. He doesn't want anyone doing anything rotty to Jack and that's that.

Sometimes he wonders what it would have been like if he'd known Jack years ago. That's usually cast aside in favor of musing over how nice of a voice and accent Jack has.

lady beatrice.
the golden witch.

She's beautiful. She's a witch. Alois has claimed her blessing (and possibly her lap) as his own and he adores both her and the idea of her. She's magical! Isn't a witch quite close to a fairy? Also she's got some damn good tea on hand. Beatrice knows about Alois' contract, even if he's kept most of the details scarce as of yet. He treats her with his own sort of respect, generally. Jim Macken may have had a mother, a very long time ago, but Alois Trancy did not. He imagines she'd be much the same as Lady Beatrice in some ways, if he thinks about it. (Or, he'd like for her to have been.)

franz d'epinay.
dear baron.

He's definitely attracted to Alois. This is in no small part because Alois has been baiting him - it's the flirtation game, and Franz is quite good at it, himself, but Alois just seems to have no shame. They're friends of sorts- well, Alois doesn't know how to peg it, really, because Franz seems to have a habit of making him uncomfortable by asking questions that Alois doesn't want to answer (namely about morality, revenge, etc.- you know, those things Alois has trouble with). He's also basically a human lie detector, which- well, great. It sure makes face-to-face interactions difficult.

Despite that, Alois continues to try to tease and sashay his way right on in. It's nearly a compulsion of sorts.

yosuke hanamura.
unsuspecting, maybe.

Gullible, Alois feels. Easy to jerk around with his big blue sad scared eyes, and it disgusts Alois but it's nice, too. He can tell, from personal experience, that Yosuke is a bit of an 'older brother' type, and he isn't sure how to feel about that. It seems a handy trait, though.

castiel.
a worthwhile angel.

This one's on thin ice, despite Alois wanting to spoil him rotten (which is really bizarre). His talks with Luca are severely frowned upon, and Alois has made it known and will continue to do so- but Castiel doesn't know, like... anything, and this fascinates Alois. It seems like a dick move on God's part: send an angel down, let him wing it. Not cool. It's Alois' mission, then, to show Castiel a billion and one things - strawberries, throwing things when you're angry, sleep, and so on. He's Alois' pet project, kind of like a personal Take That against God... which is pretty unreasonable, but the kid's clinging to it anyhow.

Already he's 'my angel,' and things like that. So long as Castiel doesn't preach, Alois really likes him.

susan sto helit.
way too strict.

Another one about whom Alois just has no clue. He claims he isn't scared of her and that really is mostly true - but she is rather... sobering, and she's strange and stern and why are all of these adults trying to give Alois proper guidance anyway? HE DOESN'T GET IT. Susan is fundamentally kind, however, and if ever Alois should need a Bogeyman beat up, there is in fact a chance he might call on her.

sam merlotte.
what a gentleman.

An honest guy, Alois says. The trustworthy type. He isn't actually sure about that second one, but he'll play the part of taking Sam's advice, for now; the man is exactly the type of person Alois would like to take advantage of, should he need it. He's helpful, though, that one is true enough - and it leaves Alois feeling wary, even in the face of the comfort Sam provides.

miles edgeworth.
horseshite.

Doesn't approve of... hardly anything Alois does. Doesn't know the whole story, either, but that's entirely Alois' fault. Alois cannot stand him (mostly because he's both defiant and startled by Edgeworth)- he makes no sense to Alois and it all feels like lies and talking out asses. Who the hell cares that much about basically everything Edgeworth seems to care about, anyway?

gilbert nightray.
great hair.

Hilarious. That's- honestly the first word that comes to mind. He lives in the manor and does servant things, and really, Alois causes too much trouble for the poor guy. Frankly Alois isn't of any great or poor opinion when it comes to Gilbert... But he likes him well enough, and doesn't disapprove of his presence.

vincent nightray.
unpleasant kinship.

Gilbert's younger brother. Alois favors him out of all of the Nightrays. (Alois also has skewed judgment skills.) Vincent is similar to Yaha (the way Alois sees it) in the way there's a level of understanding about certain things. He's lovely and he says soothing words- Alois wants to curl up on him.

elliot nightray.
forced into bro-hood.

Youngest of the present Nightrays: also hilarious. Temper, temper! They've had some entirely nonsensical arguments, and Alois actually really enjoys that. He's also set to teach Alois a bit more of the piano - Alois does like him.

raphael.
irritating angel.

Another one from Heaven. It pisses Alois off. Raphael's actually a pretty good guy, but Alois bares his metaphorical teeth because he doesn't want to handle that. He's resentful, and he's placing the blame where he shouldn't be, but Raphael's a convenient target and Alois- well, he's an angry child.

gabriel.
ridiculous angel.

TOO MANY DUDES FROM HEAVEN I AM OUTTA HERE. Gabriel is Castiel's, er... brother, or something, but he's so weird and not at all fun like Castiel is. He's a lot more secular-seeming, too, in Alois' opinion - and the Baron von Jailbait thing and constant comparisons to various boy bands aren't really appreciated. (Hilarious, but Alois cannot quite appreciate that.) Since he's an angel, Alois doesn't particularly want much to do with him- but he is curious.
