Holding on to tradition just because it's tradition doesn't make sense, but neither does embracing the new just because it's new and shiny

Well, trying out something "new and shiny" on a mass scale is the only way for humanity to see it's benefits and drawbacks so that we can decide whether or not we should keep it, get rid of it, or tweak it to be better
