I've been on a really bad sleep schedule lately, and even though I keep trying to change it, I just can't seem to do it ( Read more... )

My sleep problems were always having to fight to go to sleep (even when I want to, even when Im tired Im rarely "sleepy") and being a light sleeper, as soon as I wake up,.. I can't get BACK to sleep for the same problem.

Since I was 13 until last year I used Nyquil to go to sleep almost every night in between. My favorite was a half cap of NyQuil and a beer for a half hour in front of the tv, then reading in bed which the combo would usually work,... and became a good habit, actually. I tried everything otherwise.. melatonin, exercise, meditation, massage.. all while keeping a Go To Bed ritual. Nothing worked. I still occasionally have problems, and the NyQuil and beer method have always worked best. Of course a dollop of sex on that ritual works even better.

Oh, man. The longest I've ever slept in my entire life, 18 hours, was when I took Nyquil in college. Oh, man.

Nowadays I try to avoid Nyquil, and I also don't drink alcohol (which might be contributing to the problem, lol), so unfortunately, I don't think your method will work for me.

However, I appreciate the suggestion, and I sympathize with your situation! =)

I have this EXACT problem. My anxiety has been really bad lately for some reason, and this always results in trouble sleeping. I am not on any anxiety medication regularly, but every once in awhile I pop a Xanax that the dr. prescribed but I never really took or refilled and seriously, within 10 minutes I am out like a light.

Stupid fucking anxiety- it blows big time. Hang in there, buddy! Sometimes it's nice to know you're not alone.

You know, my life has been SO much better since I got on Lexapro. It's not for everyone, but if anxiety is really that big a problem for you, you may want to look into it.

Maybe my whole problem is that I just need to up my dose. Hrm.

But thanks. <3

balls.

no really, balls.

tennis balls, racquet balls, ping pong balls, pretty much whatever you can get. put them in a pillowcase and roll around on them. it's like a message, only cheaper. and balls.

Heh. You know, I've tried that, actually, and it never ends up working very well for me. I get spasms, cramps and all kinds of stuff. It just doesn't do it for me, for whatever reason. But on the other hand, balls. =D
