When Hollywood Crushes Go Bad

I have always liked Jeffrey Dean Morgan. I liked him on Weeds and I always thought he was rather kick ass on Supernatural. I was happy for him when he got cast in Watchman, because if the film is a hit he should be catapulted into stardom. As much as I have liked him in other things, I loved him as Denny on Grey’s Anatomy. The season finale ( Read more... )

LOL--I completely understand what you're talking about, with crushes. I've been there! Examples? Finding out Shaq of 10 years ago was the biggest slut-to-ever-slut. Finding out Billy Crudup left Mary-Louise Parker when she was seven months pregnant...for Claire Danes! Finding out Ryan Reynolds broke up with Alanis Morrissette...and then married (ugh!) Scarlett Johanssen (or whatever her name is).

I feel your pain. And it has nothing to do with you not having a life. If Dirk Nowitzki started sprouting Neo-Nazi or racial epithets, I'd probably die of a broken heart. It's okay :-)

See, I never crushed on Billy Crudup, but when he pulled that shit, I thought he was an ass. Still do. In fact, I wondered during filming of Watchmen if he and JDM ever had any interesting conversation considering that JDM and MLP were engaged for like 5 minutes a few years ago.

But thanks for my permission to mourn the loss of illusion. It is very sad!

Billy Crudup is in the Watchmen movie too? That must have been an awkward set.

Ah, Colin Farrell and George Clooney. Hot physically and personality-wise. I think its also because they don't take themselves too seriously.

They don't, and also I think you get what you see. Colin is a very dirty boy with the heart of a poet. And The Clooney? Well he just is, and I am happy with that.

He talked over Craig a little bit, and was dressed like he was trying way too hard, and generally just had a vibe that he thought he was all that and more. It was sad, because I thought he would be...different.

Awwww.... I never saw the CF spot but I believe you about his dickery! I was always very meh about JDM and wondered if he was an off-screen douche. But I totally get your cruched-ness. It's part of the reason why I don't want to know too much about the actors. acting (usually) == giant ego ... and that mostly means disappointment.

That said, I love Colin Farrell! Especially since he's cleaned up his substance problem! Did you see that clip from that British talk show where he goes on at some length about the ass he used to be? *smiles* *loves him*

I have to say, I do believe he is an off screen douche. So sad. However, sometimes they totally surprise me. I thought Kate from Lost would be sort of stuck up and supercilious, and she was sweet as pie and absolutely adorable on Craig. I fell madly in love with her when I never expected to. It can go both ways. It is just heartbreaking when it goes the wrong way.

I will have to look up Colin's interview because it sounds adorable. I loved his speech at the Golden Globes and liked him even when he had problems. There is just something about a bad boy that makes me want to redeem him. Robert Downey Jr had that vibe for YEARS!!

It's always so risky to learn about the actual person behind the actor, isn't it? It's a totally risky crap shoot as to what you will find. I guess it reinforces that they are just people, like the rest of us, but in some ways, it does make me wish that we didn't have the huge media stuff that we do now -- in the old days, stars were stars and they may have been screwed up behind closed doors, but the fans got to keep their illusions. Not necessarily right, but still somewhat appealing.

The old days do sound appealing, and there is something about the harsh glare of fame these days that makes everyone look bad. I certainly couldn't withstand that kind of scrutiny, so why should I expect others to? However, when you know you are in the public eye, I would think you would try to behave. Right? I mean some do, Jenna Fischer's divorce was quite quiet and tasteful, and then we get the J.Lo's of the world who spread every detail of their lives around.
