Chapter 16:

“Eh?! Sho-chan left for France?!”

Nino covered his ears at the sudden out burst, but even his hands couldn’t keep out Aiba’s thundering voice.

“Yes,”

Aiba placed a fluffy white kitten inside its cage, before turning to Nino, “What about the rest of the mission?”

Nino sighed.

Maybe coming to Aiba’s pet shop wasn’t the best idea. It wasn’t as if the brown haired man could provide him with any form of assistance that Sho was capable of.

Or was he?

“I do have some private investigator friends,” stated Aiba, now wrestling with a very unwilling-to-take-a-bath golden retriever, “they could help,”

So that was how Nino found himself standing outside a peculiar shop, with a crooked signboard which proudly displays the agency’s name: Kanjani8

“Let’s go!” exclaimed Aiba, dragging Nino into the quaint shop. Once in, a messy office filled with stacks of papers greeted Nino. It was like any other regular office, but somehow the atmosphere felt a little different.

“Yoko!” yelled Aiba while waving at a man, obviously the boss of the small company, sitting at the furthest end of the office.

“Aiba-chan!” replied the one named Yoko, putting his stack of newspapers down and running over to where Nino and Aiba were.

“So this is the Nino you told me about,” said Yoko, offering his hand to Nino, “I’m Yokoyama Yuu, CEO of Kanjani8, the best PI agency there is!”

Nino gave the weird man a nervous smile and shook his hand. Yokoyama ushered them to a sofa in a corner and professionally pulled out a notepad.

“So how can I help you?”

“Nino here needs to find out who killed his parents 19 years ago,” answered Aiba promptly, patting Nino on the back.

Nino winced slightly at Aiba’s bluntness, but still managed a nod at Yokoyama’s direction. Yokoyama scribbled on his notepad, eyebrows furrowed in deep concentration. It took him about 5 minutes to write that very little detail about the situation, after that his head snapped up as he gave Nino a very weird stare.

“I forgot something really important,” he said, throwing his notepad on a nearby coffee table as he stood up dramatically

“Introducing the rest of Kanjani8!”

“EH?”

The moment does words escaped Yokoyama’s mouth 6 other guys rushed out from nowhere and formed a line. 5 of them were dressed in suits, while one was in a janitor outfit.

“Shibutani Subaru, Murakami Shingo, Maruyama Ryuhei, Okura Tadayoshi, Shota Yasuda and Nishikido Ryo, the rest of Kanjani8!”

“What was that for?” demanded the last man, giving Nino a glare.

“What?”

“I saw you flinch when Yoko said my name!”

Nino trembled slightly as he saw a big resemblance, “you just look like someone I know,”

Ryo threw his hands in the air as he whined, “You’re the 5th person this week! You know, every time I go to this bar, the annoying owner would mistake me for this guy named Oikawa Sosuke!”

[Everybody else: -_-lll]

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Trudging up the steps to his apartment, Nino heaved a large sigh. The discussion at Kanjani 8 took way longer than he had expected. In the end, Yokoyama had sent two of his men to do some field work, and told Nino to wait for his call. Nino wanted to go to another agency. A more normal agency at least, but he couldn’t persuade Aiba. But on the bright side, when Aiba told Yokoyama Nino was a chef, Yokoyama insisted Nino pay the bill with his famous (according to Aiba) Hayashi rice. At least he wouldn’t have to worry about the cost… just the amount of time he needed to wait before getting any information.

Having to deal with those 7, no, 8 weird guys gave him a massive headache, not to mention how much energy was drained from him. All he wanted right now was a bowl of ramen and a good night sleep.

But….as I have mentioned,

Things don’t go his way.

As usual.

“What the?” yelped Nino jumping a few feet back in surprise when he opened the door.

“Yo!” greeted a particular man with curly black hair.

Oikawa came up to Nino and wrapped his arm around his shoulder in a friendly manner, “Nino, why didn’t you tell me you were going out with the heir of Matsumoto World Finance Group?”

Nino winced at Oikawa’s actions while muttering under his breath, “Because I’m not going out with him?”

Luckily, Oikawa didn’t manage to catch Nino’s statement. Instead he pulled Nino to the sofa where Jun sat and started offering him more beer. Nino rolled his eyes and proceeded to return to his room, and let the two weirdoes find out who’s weirder.

“Oi, Nino!” yelled Jun, “I specially came here to talk to you, can’t you give me some face?”

“Yeah, Nino’ Oikawa chirped in, “Matsumoto-san took time out of his busy schedule to come here and explain to me where you were a few nights back,”

Nino slapped his forehead, not wanting to remember what happened, and allowed gravity to do its job, “like you care where I was,” he mumbled.

Jun stood up and grabbed Nino roughly by his left arm, “I need to talk to you,”

“If it has anything to do with what happened at the party….”

“Why are you bringing up what happened at the party? So you admit you did that on purpose,”

“No I didn’t!” snapped Nino, pulling Jun out of Oikawa’s house, “I need to talk to you… somewhere else,”

Nino grabbed Jun’s discarded jacket with his free hand and proceeded to exit the house, dragging Jun behind him, ignoring the shouts of ‘what happened at what party’.

“Where did you find this place?” asked Nino sipping his tea, “It’s really comfy, yet creepily empty,”

“I bought off the whole café,” answered Jun, gulping his espresso, “What do you want to talk about?”

“Weren’t you the one who appeared at my house saying you wanted to talk to me?”

“Weren’t you the one who dragged me out of your house saying you wanted to talk to me,”

“Wait… YOU BOUGHT OFF THE WHOLE CAFÉ?”

Jun nodded, smirking slightly at Nino’s shocked expression. He raised his hand to signal to the waiter to refill his cup while leaning back into his seat. While the waiter was doing his job, Jun sneaked a glance at Nino, who was still recovering from his previous shock.

“Jokes aside,” began Jun, once the waiter left, “I wanted to ask you if you like Sho,”

Nino stared at Jun, not believing what he just heard, when images of Sho with Ohno started popping up in his head….For your information, Sakurai-san already has Ohno-san….I promised Ohno to stop you from making the biggest mistake ever, which is not chasing after him…

“No,” replied Nino flatly, dropping his head slightly as he did so.

“Oh. What was it you wanted to tell me?”

Nino’s head jerked up as he tried to remember, “…oh! Why did you tell Oikawa-san we were going out?”

“When did I tell him we were going out?” said Jun, who tried to look shocked, but was actually cheering.

“Didn’t you? That’s what he told me!”

“Did he? Or did you make that up?” asked Jun, leaning forward to close the gap between them.

“What are you trying to say?” asked Nino accusingly, eyeing Jun suspiciously.

“What I’m trying to say is you want us to go out, so you hinted that to me by saying Oikawa-san said we were going out. Am I right?”

Nino raised his fist, ready to slap Jun when he phone saved him from having to deal with a pissed Jun.

“Hello?” Jun heard Nino say, “Yes…I’ll meet you at your office….ok…thanks a lot!”

Nino grabbed his stuff on the chair beside him, “I gotta go,” he explained, rushing out of the restaurant before Jun could react.

“Whoever called Kazu is going to DIE!” muttered Jun under his breath, getting ready to leave as well.
