Chapter 4:
“Nino-kun~”
Nino looked up from the curry pot he was mechanically stirring, and found himself face to face with an overly hyper Toma. In contrast, Nino look exactly like a panda and his petite frame was skinnier than usual. Well, that’s what you get for having a 24 hour DS-marathon which failed to drown any of his sorrows.
“Guess what!” smirked Toma happily before Nino could work his vocal chords, “Jun’s coming over for lunch today!”
Nino sighed and thought his stomach could win a gold award at the Olympics, the way it was flipping. He was hoping he would never see Jun ever ever again, but it looks like fate (and the whole world) hates him.
“What does Jun like to eat?” pondered Toma to the ceiling, eye brows furrowed.
“Anything but Hayashi Rice,” replied Nino instantly.

“Satoshi…”
Ohno snapped out of his daydream when he heard someone call him.
“Sho-chan?” asked Ohno, “what’s up?”
“Jun and Nino,”
“….?”
“Any idea how to get Jun and Nino back together?”
Ohno frowned at the thought. He wasn’t really good at coming up with plans, but this time, he was really determined to get his friends back together. His two-second-determination paid off, as a light blub went off in his head.
“I think I have an idea…”

Nino stood at a corner of the dinning room, farthest away from the table. He watched Toma shook hands with Jun and Kaeda. He saw them sit down at the table, Jun and Toma on one side and Kaeda on the opposite side. He observed them talking about something random.
Then, the time he dreaded most came.
“Nino-kun,” shouted Tom across the room, “Can you come over here?”
Reluctantly, Nino dragged his lead heavy feet over to the trio, making sure to stand as far away from Jun as he could and totally avoid eye contact with him.
“3 plates of beef steak, please,” said Toma, beaming up at Nino, who’s face was as black as thunder.
“I don’t wanna eat beef!” grumbled Jun flatly to the table. He then turned to look directly at Nino, “I want Hayashi Rice,”
A whole minute flew by as Jun continued to stare at Nino, trying to retain his stoic expression while convey a message to Nino.
“Can’t you see what I’m trying to do?” was what Jun was trying to express.
He wasn’t sure if Nino got his message or because they were looking at each other for an awkwardly long period, for Nino mumbled something incoherent before walking off towards the kitchen.

“Satoshi!” yelled Sho, “That plan of yours is way too far fetched!”
“But it’s the only one I got….” Pouted the older man.
“Is it even possible?”
“Not really,”
“Then?”
“Well, it worked before!”
“That doesn’t count…”
“Any better ideas?”
“No,”
“Okay, then we’ll use mine!”
“….”

Jun gulped down spoonfuls after spoonfuls of the delicious Hayashi Rice in front of him. It was a difficult thing to decide if he should take his time in order to prolong the moment or swallow everything at one go.
“Toma-kun,” began Kaeda after she delicately mopped her mouth, “what was Ninomiya-kun doing here?”
“He’s working here!” grinned Toma in between bites, “I don’t know why, but Ohno hired him to work here. He is a pretty good chef,”
Their conversation continued as Jun discreetly scraped every bit of his Hayashi Rice. He was so engrossed in doing so, that he didn’t hear Nishida sneak up on him, and only realized when Nishida prodded him and pointed at a letter which he left on his lap.
Making sure no one was looking his way, he picked up the small slip and read its content: Ninomiya was hospitalized, details unknown.
Jun choked on his food in a way which attracted the attention of everybody in the room.
“Jun? What’s wrong?”
Jun merely stood up in the blink of an eye, knocking the table as he did so, “excuse me,” With that, he ran for the door.

“I can’t believe phase 1 of your plan work!”
“See the benefits of fishing?”
“What has it got to do with fishing? Besides, you didn’t even do anything!”
“….”
“….”
“Either ways, it’s going smoothly isn’t it?”
“How much do you want to bet that phase 2 won’t work?”
“My entire fish collection,”
“Deal,”
“Why do you want my fish collection anyway?”
“…no idea… I could give it to Aiba…”

Jun’s shirt was soaked in perspiration despite the cool weather. He felt stupid for running all the way to the General Hospital when he could have taken his limo.
“Ninomiya Kazunari,” panted Jun to the nurse at the reception, “which ward is he in?”
“3rd Floor, Ward 4,”
Jun mumbled a ‘thank you’ before speeding off the in the direction of the staircase. When he got to the 3rd floor, he saw a familiar figure entering Ward 4.
“Sho?”
Not understanding how Sho knew about what happened when he was supposed to be out fishing with Ohno where they were supposed to be uncontactable, he walked up cautiously and slid the door open just a crack.
Jun wished he didn’t.
On the patient bed laid a really frail looking Nino with an oxygen mask strapped to his pale face and many IVs poked into his rake-thin arm. But what made the situation worse was Sho, sitting on a chair beside Nino’s bed, his hand firmly grasping Nino’s hand.
He had made his choice of saving his father’s company. If he had to torment himself by giving up his love life, Jun was certain he was able to do so. But little did he realize, he wasn’t the only one suffering.
